Nab 2007
I have never been to NAB before. I would like to buy a new HD camera this year and thinking may be I should go to see the new gadgets at NAB this year. I remember some vendors gave out free exhibition tickets last year. However, I did not look into the details. Do you have to buy stuff from them in order to get the tickets? Would 2 days be enough for walking through most of stalls? Any suggestion for hotels?
Thanks! |

If you look around you should be able to find free passes and I've never had to buy anything to get them. To me 2 days is pushing it, but I tend to stop at almost every booth, even if it's something I don't need or would ever use. Last time I went it took me 3.5 days. Go to the NAB website and they should have a list of hotels that the shuttles run from. Then pick a hotel near enough to walk to a shuttle. I think one of the most least expensive during that week is the GoldCoast. I have stayed at the Riveria, Flamingo, Casino Royal and Hara's. They all were fine, since all you do is get a little sleep and a shower while in Vegas, and sleep is optional. I most likely won't go this year, but I would love to. Have fun!

Look online or contact a local vender. They are usually pretty easy to find.

Paul. If you're looking for a decent hotel room at a good price, the Hooters Hotel has rates around $79.00 per night. Look on any of the travel websites, NAB doesn't offer this hotel.

Any advice appreciated with this dilemma.
I have signed up and plan to go to NAB this year. However, the expo itself is M-Th. I can only get 2 days off my day-job to go to the convention. What two days would be best you think? Are there certain demos that are only on 1 day? I'm most interested in the RED demo, but I"m sure others will be great too. If days don't matter, or haven't in the past - i'd like to know that too. Thanks.

It's great that you are going to be there. If your evenings are free, there are some other vendor activities that you might want to learn about. -gb- |

Agree w/Greg, stay away from Monday, it's a complete madhouse. Tue / Wed is good, or Wed / Thu. You'll get more face time with the exhibitors on Thu.

Gotta agree with Chris and Greg, I'm in the same situation, I can only get 2 days off from my regualr day job, so I usually go Wed, Thurs. You definitely get more face time with the vendors later in the week. Also, the vendors offer good deals on thursday, since they don't want to ship everything back.

Thank you
Thanks for the info guys. Monday is definately ruled out I think. I was originally thinking Tue/Wed. But if I can get good deals on things Thrusday, maybe I'll go Wed/Thu. That's a tough call. If it's anything like Comdex (use to be), then Thursday will be pretty dead all day, with half the vendors packing up and heading out early.

They're not supposed to head out early. NAB operates a little tighter than COMDEX did. What usually happens on Thursday is that the traffic is still there, just significantly lighter is all, and the exhibitors are exhibiting to each other. For most of them, it's their first chance to walk around a little and see some of the rest of the floor.
