requiem for youtube?

Hi Tasuya--

Check out the soundtrack for REQUIEM FOR A DREAM. You'll hear something very, very familiar :)

Plus, these pieces of music have been known to pop up in some of the Lord of the Rings trailers.

Best,

thanx man.

Adam Bray June 11th, 2007 08:23 PM

It's from Lord of the Rings.

Andy Graham June 12th, 2007 03:57 AM

I've seen lord of the rings way more times than any man should and that music is not from any of the films.

Andy.

It's by Clint Mansell from his score for Requiem for a Dream, but remixed.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clint_Mansell:
"The trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers contained a reworked version of the track "Lux Aeterna," utilizing a full orchestra and choir. The piece, named "Requiem for a Tower", was made just for the trailer. The orchestration was arranged by Simone Benyacar, Dan Nielsen, and Veigar Margeirsson.
"Lux Aeterna" has since become extremely popular, with both the original and the orchestration having appeared in a wide variety of commercials and trailers, including trailers for the films Zathura, The Da Vinci Code, Lost and Sunshine."

From there, Google has lots of references.

Search for "Corner Stone Cues" on iTunes, if you don't mind using the service, to find the piece, entitled "Requiem for a Tower", on their album of the same name. I'd recommend getting the entire thing, I can say without exaggeration that I have fallen in love with every single track, particularly "Betrayal & Redemption" and "J.B.D." Great, great trailer music, at least if one could afford to license it. We can all dream, though.

Yeah but the trailer isn't the film , the trailer would have been released before the film was finnished which means howard shore would have been busy working on the film hence the completely difirent music in the trailer.

Absolutely not. You have to license synchronization rights from the copyright owner and considering its use for LOR that's liable to be just a bit pricey for an individual to bear unless you're made out of money.

No you can't, you have to pay license fees to whoever owns the rights wether it be the wirter or the record studio. fees can get very very expensive with famous music.

Andy.
