HMC150 and HMC151

Hi there,

Please forgive me if this question has been posted elsewhere already.

Could someone please tell me the difference between these two cameras? I read somewhere that suggested the 150 is the North American version and the 151 the European version. I wonder if it is otherwise the same camera?

I am looking to purchase a new camera and these are on my short list (after never really having considered Panasonic before it seems like a really good option).

Thanks!

As far as I know, you´re right:
HMC150 = 60Hz only for the USA
HMC151 = 50Hz/60Hz switchable for Europe
HMC152/153/154 = 50Hz only for Asia, Australia and maybe some other regions
HMC155 = 60Hz only for Japan
Otherwise they are the same cameras.

Hi Trinity

The HMC150 is indeed the North American model and is essentially an NTSC model...it will shoot in say, PA Mode at 1080 60i and progressive at 30P whilst the HMC151 and 151 are PAL models designed for Europe/UK/Australia and the rest of the world so they shoot at 1080 50i and progressive at 25P ....each camera is designed around the TV system of the country it's marketed in!!

The HMC-151 is switchable between PAL and NTSC scanning rates, providing "world" capability out of the box. If you live or plan to work in Europe, then this is the camera you want to buy.

Re: HMC150 and HMC151

Thank you for the posts! That explains it.

It's amazing to know that the model will switch between pal and ntsc. Synchronistically, that could actually be handy for me. Even though I live in the UK I have an American version of the Canon HFS200 HD (which I bought as a spare one to put in my pocket and take with me where ever I go for opportunisitc GV's). It seems so unfortunate that there are still different systems in this day and age.

Thanks guys!
