Rumor about GS100 PAL

Just found a message on SimplyDv board from a dutchman. He wanted to buy the MX500 but in the shop it was sold out. After contacting Panasonic Holland he was told that they will no longer distribute this model as there will be a new model coming out within the next few weeks (months?). This seems to be a good indicator that a GS100 PAL is in the pipeline. The bad news might be that it will probably be close to 2000 Euro ($2300), as the GS70 is 1500 Euro. This would be almost twice as much as the Japanese NTSC model... Bummer.

yes ouch

lucky for everyone they can purchase this cam for face value
except in pal

thats the bummer part about it
if the owners knew about software that could "and i dont know that it exist"change so that they could buy a jap model i would be happy for them but alas ouch is all i can say

reading the threads it would seem they can but with a bunch of headache

Pana AU just e-mailed me---still no GS100 info from them. Europe might just be getting the first PAL model. Perhaps because it's a bigger market?

oooooooooh....

welll now, if this is the case, methinks to wait a lil bit....

the only thing i DONT like about the GS is the battery (and the mic placement)... basically, im gona have to start the battery collection again and get another shotgun... maybe if i sell the MX...

either way, what does cinegama look like on the GS?
Ive seen some menu screens and its obviously not as indepth as teh DVX, but im curious to know how much manipulation can be had...

Frank, supervideo is claiming a PAL version will be available January 04 and that a "stripped" NTSC version will be available in the US in May 2004, listing for $1999. How about asking him how good he thinks the sources for those dates are - for the benefit of your wranglees.

I try and get this kind of info from Pana itself, though Pana USA never plays ball. As soon as I find out anything, I'll post it. A stripped down USA version? I don't know. It may only be missing the skin tone feature. :)

Maybe supervideo's view is that if it isn't black it's been stripped?
