http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...=316090&is=REG Pansonic and B&H has started listing the dvc30. |
Uh huh and B&H has the list price $200 more than Panasonic. That's pretty funny.
|
i think that is because they are adding an extra battery and carrying case.

Hi,
I think the most interesting unanswered question on this cam is what is the 16:9 like? Is it the 'full pixel' 16:9 like the MX-500 or is it just 'squeeze' and masking it like the DVX-100? I have the (english) pdf brochure on this thing and there's not a mention of 16:9 anywhere. It's encouraging that it has 1/4" chips rather than the 1/6" - so I'm guessing a comparable or better-than performance than the pdx-10 - a market (it seems to me) to be squarely aimed at. I have to say, from the brochure pics, this is one of the blackest, ugliest, bush-pig looking cams I've ever seen - and I think I want one on that basis alone! :) Best, DW. |
no idea frank, but does anyone knwo what kinda batery it takes?? is it liek the mx500/dvx??? or GS series??
It uses the same batt as the MX500. VBD33/35/55 series. Based on available info, it will have both letterboxed and squeezed 16:9 mode. Simulated shots shown in the Jap site indicate a reduction in vertical angle of view and no gains in horizontal angle of view |
B&H has the dvc30 listed for $2199.
|
Is that with or without the XLR adaptor (that docking type station)?
|
Frank,
My understanding is that the XLR adapter, microphone, hood, etc. are all additional cost items. |
Here is the most info i have seen on this cam. Best thing to do is download the file to your computer and load it from there. There is considerable lag from the site itself.
The zero lux IR recording mode is very interseting. http://panasonic.co.jp/bsd/sales_o/0...g-dvc30-p1.pdf |
Does that PDF file say what kind of iris the DVC30 has?
|

No mention of the iris, huh?
|
I'm sorry Frank. The publication doesn't say, nor is there an illustration. However, an educated guess is that it is a 2 blade just like the MX500, MX5000, PD953. It is manually controllable.
|
Tom Hardwick isn't going to be too happy hearing that. :-))
|
is anyone gonna get this considering the dvc80 is cheaper?
