953 Discontinued.....

Just popped over to the Panasonic website to check on something and noticed that they no longer list the 953 in their 3CCD Consumer offerings.

Does this mean we're one step closer to getting full details about the new GS400?

Interesting, and I've also noticed that the DV953 has disappeared from several reseller's websites and one told me that they expected no more DV953 shipments. Of course they gave me no indication of a replacement model.

Since the GS400 is coming soon, it's expected that the PV-DV953 will be dropped. This is the way it works with most consumer cams. What I don't understand is why the big secret with the GS400's specs.

Maybe your guess was right Frank and it'll have 1/4 inch chips, being a consumer version of the dvc30.

It was just a guess. It could also be a stripped GS100 but with a slightly larger lens. I dislike secrets. Perhaps Pana's waiting for Sony's announcements, so they can take away Sony's spotlight. Know what I mean?

That'd be okay in my books. I am no big fan of sony. Not for anything to do with their cameras, just their pricing schemes.

I think all the cam makers come out with good ones and not so good ones. We'll just have to wait and see to see what's what for the new cam season. Who knows if this GS400 will be on par with the Japanese only GS100, or a DVC30 lil' sister. It might be a completely different cam altogether. It shouldn't be long now but the suspense is irritating. That's why I'm still up. :-))
