mx-500 raw mode!!!!!!

heh guys my brother has a nikon d100. this cam has an option to shoot in raw mode. Basically this means that the camera stores the exact signal that came from the ccd and you use ur pc to do the editing and processing and from that you can change things like white balance etc and the quality is a lot better. just search the net for reviews. look at the d70 review on www.dpreview.com
it shows the advantages of raw. could you imagine if you could do this with a 3ccd panasonic cam. problems of over saturated reds etc could be totaly fixed. all you would have to do is modify the red signal from the ccd to fix those oversaturated colors. Imagine that and once you have it all right you could save the settings and apply it to all ur video giving it perfect colors from an almost perfect cam. You could turn the sharpening down and get rid of the ghosting around the images. what more could you want.

I think that it is something that would have to be done in the research and development stage. The big problem i see is you would have effectively 3 times the amount of data to sotre because it is not all put into one image. another thing is that even in raw mode with single ccd on the digital cams, the file sizes are bigger because there is no compression and i do believe that it might even be bigger than tiff. Because of these reasons i would say that it is very unlikely that it would happen in the near future but just imagine the possibilities

RAW files are nothing new, my 4 year old digicam produces RAW files. The files are compressed 3:1 because of the use of the Bayer pattern. RAw files are not practical for many reasons, not the least of which is the need to correct each frame. The time involved would be considerable and not practical for most situations.
