PVDV 953 Audio

Okay, so I have a PV-DV953 and I connect it to my computer through firewire, duh. I've never had audio problems or tweaked any of the settings. When the camera is in record mode I can hear the preview audio in my editor, but when the camera is in VCR mode I cannot hear audio at all, but I know its there, and I can hear it on my camera speaker. So it must be a camera setting. This is really really pissing me off. If anyone has any tips please let me know. Thanks for looking.

It depends on what capture software you are using. Usually, the software doesn't play the audio during capture because it places more of a burden on the host which would result in dropped frames. You'll likely find that after you capture, the playback will contain the audio.

It's not recorded in LP mode by any chance? Check your AV In/Out, A. Dub and DV Out settings on the VCR Recording menu. They should be set to AV Out/Phones, Off and Off, respectively. Also, try resetting the cam.

Try to do a capture with WinDV and see what happens.
