Sounds like an MX5000, but I am still waiting for the full specs

Yup, me too. Until I see it's full specs and a pic, we don't know if the PV-DV953 will be the MX5000. Plus, Panasonic USA doesn't have a very good track record with bringing in their flagship hand-held cam. (The EZ10 was stripped down and there was never a MX3000.)

The dv953 has 3 1/6 ccds like I thought. Damn. - At least now I dont feel bad for getting the dv852 a few weeks ago.
