Repair cost and extended warranty

Just to share some scary numbers with forum members here:

Bought my MX-8 at SGD2400 (that's Singapore Dollars, about US$1.00 = SGD1.80).

Sold to a friend.

Bought extended warranty (2 more years, so total 3 years) for SGD165.

Camera colours gone with permanent solarise and absolutely BAD video at 13 month. Steven Khong saw the problem when I went over to Kuala Lumpur.

As camera is on my name, I sent it to Panasonic Singapore for repairs in February. Got it back 9 weeks later in April.

Changed lens and optical capture component, and general cleaning. Cost on bill: SGD850. Thanks to warranty, Free-of-charge.

WHEW! Worth the whole SGD165 that I paid.

You and your friend were lucky. My 4 year warranties ran out on my 2 JVC cams, and I never got to use my warranties! Maybe next time I'll be luckier with my cams breaking down.

I know that was funny (your post), but it went over my head. What did you expect? It's 3:10 am here in Vancouver, and I have to get up in a few hours---first I gotta go to bed. :)

Logging off---!
