audio level control

I used ma dvx 100 last saturday on a jib crane for a wedding , the video was very good but I see the audio was too loud at times and even some hissing sound...I see no audio control button on this as there was one on my previous XL1 ...does anybody know where to control audio from?
thanks

If you are talking about the controls on the DVX. They are the near the base where you flick out the LCD screen.

There are two dials on the left-hand side of the cam. They are located just below where the LCD screen flips out. You have both a channel 1 dial and a channel 2 dial. Adjust them according to the onscreen audio meters (located at the bottom of the viewfinder display).

tapeless recording

I heard various reviews regarding tapeless recording , some people are happy and some unhappy with the quick stream dv. My producer wants me to buy one of these for our next film. I just want an openion. Is it the best solution for the tapeless environment? Would I be able to control on/off the recording from the varizoom ....as the hard drive is attached to the camera which might be on a jib arm?

thanks
