Can this camcorder take stills? Like a photo button where you could snap and save it somewhere? If it can how good is it?

And the answer is no, there is no still photo capability on the AG-DVX100 or its near-twin sister, the AG-DVC80.

Is there a certain kind of DV tapes I should and should not use with this camcorder? At the bottom of this link

where it shows the DV tapes, it stated not to use 80min tapes.
