Re: Manual is not fully Manual

You can not go to 720p in the Creative Movie Mode '24p Cinema;. So that would mean using the Manual Movie Mode' in the Creative Movie setting. It seems to do it there on 1080i and 720p. And the important part is to be in manual focus, for some reason AF knocks the shutter speed back up to 1/30.
Thanks John

You can't? On the GH1, you can record in 720p, there is no 720i. There is 1080i though, I just read it in the specs.

Recording rate etc. is set in the menu anyway, and shouldn't have anything to do with being in auto, manual, whatever. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Jim, I'm thinking you're not in the right mode. I shot my camera at slow shutter speed and it created the effect you are wanting, no problem.

You know this could be a good little trick.
Being able to shoot wide open, and not having to go past ISO 3200 to keep the noise down, just by going to a much lower shutter speed and still getting very usable video in very low light situations....as long as you don't pan fast or zoom.

That Vimeo video was not my video, I did not record any video when I tried my GH2 in a dark room @F0.95, 3200 iso and 1/2 sec. Here are two low light night test videos with one shot @ F0.95, 3200 iso and 1/25 sec that was about four stops overexposed and the other @ F2.8 , 1600 iso and 1/25 sec.

Ok...strange. I just clicked the link on your post, Wonder how the other GH2 test came up.
You must be lovin' the Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95. Wish I could afford one.
