7.5mm Samyang f3.5

I just got this lens in and I think 'm in love. For an inexpensive lens it's tack sharp on the GH2.

Thats the fisheye lens correct? I think you are the first person heard of to buy that lens.

Re: 7.5mm Samyang f3.5

Yep the fisheye. I did a lot of research on it before I ordered it. Very good reviews.

The corners are good, it's sharp all the way open, focus is smooth, better than it should be in low light and I'm flattening the image now to see how that works out.

This is a picky bunch and they liked it,

I've got the Rokinon last year, same thing I think. I've had fun a couple of times with it, but I keep meaning to put it in the classifieds. Fun lens.

I wish I'd known that Jeff. I could have saved some money and you could have gotten rid of it.

This is a Jpeg frame grab. It's a little deceptive. The motorcycle is really directly to mt left.

Never been able to find a practical use for a fisheye lens. I'm sure they have there uses although they always seemed like more of an effect lens.

Re: 7.5mm Samyang f3.5

It's pretty easy to remove the fisheye and leave the ultra wide image.

This one's going to get a lot of indoor use in large rooms at the senate.

Just playing lat night to see how it does in very low light, this gives an idea of the 180 degree spread.

Don,
How do you do that?....I assume you would use the "lens correction" feature in Light Room or other software.

Premier Pro, Distortion, Horizontal ....Jeff

I'm getting kinda fond of this little lens. I just have to remember to keep my fingers out of the shot.

Got the Rokinon 7.5mm 3.5 for a recent project and was happy with result.
Great lens for GH2 but for very specific use.

I agree Alex, it is specific but very useful to me. It has a 180 degree spread witch blends nicely with GoPro 170 degree. I use the Gopro's a lot.

Re: 7.5mm Samyang f3.5

Don, I had GoPro and loved it but image just wasn't cutting with my other cameras, sold it with regret.
Will be using this fisheye on stage next month and will report here.

I have also borrowed a Zenitar 16mm 2.8 fisheye from a friend of mine for some stage production and was happy with it. The angle of view wasn't so extreme and it looked more like a wide lens on my GH2, could compete with 12 mm, but focusing was a pain.

Re: 7.5mm Samyang f3.5

The IQ is getting better all the time Alex, and sometimes it's the only practical way to get a shot. The GP2's are way ahead of the 1's and they are coming out with an upgrade to bring the bitrate of the 2's to 35mb as well as a flatter profile and more.

Even the 1's are useful. I got this with a 1 tonight during a storm then had some fun assigning colors to the intensity of the flashes.
