Re: Panasonic G7

The big question I have is why buy the GH4?

Re: Panasonic G7

I would assume certain color profiles, the anamorphic 4:3 mode of the gh4 would not be included on the G7.

I think for half the price of a GH4 body, this arrival of the G7 is like when the budget Canon t2i/eps550d was introduced. Good enough.

It is a kller price point for video enthusiasts. I wish a body only option is available.

Re: Panasonic G7

The GH4 has 100mbps 1080-60p in ETC mode and it has 96fps slow motion. These are two functions I use all the time over my G6.

With that said, the G6 creates an incredibly appealing image in 1080-60p in ETC mode. With it's focus peaking and ultra light weight, it was a hands down winner in image quality vs the GH3 at the time IMHO. Here's a cool sample of some bull elk with a 600mm Nikkor AIS ED lens in ETC mode.

It will be interesting to see how that GX7 sensor works with the new venus engine in the G7.

Cheers,
Pete

Yes, etc mode on the G6 has a remarkable performance imagewise, if you shoot in other modes the g6 performs worse in 50p and the same at 25p compared to the gh3, something I have tested on a resolution chart.

Re: Panasonic G7

I see on Cinema5d which states that the G7 camera will indeed have the Cinemalike D and V profiles

Nice. This price point is compelling.

Edit: Here is straight from Panasonic's website:

Folks outside the EU might prefer the GH4 for its unlimited shot length.

Re: Panasonic G7

Looks like a nice camera. I also hope a body only option becomes available. I already have a 14-42 lens. I was really getting interested in the gh4 and was waiting to see what happens to the price so this option fits in nicely
