Re: GH2 stops recording

In the continuing drama that is my "overstimulated" GH2, I have a screen shot of the properties of a clip I shot with the camera behaving badly. Take a look at this and tell me what you think--particularly regarding the bit rate of the clip. It was only 18 seconds long when the camera stopped.

Thanks for your continued feedback!
Terry

Re: GH2 stops recording

Terry, what SD Cards are you using; can you link. The bitrate proves its a hacked camera and its shooting 3-4 times its usual bitrate. This is why recording is stopping early. The card can't write the information given to it fast enough to keep recording going.

If you don't want a high bitrate, you need to get a copy of the original firmware and restore the camera to that as previously instructed.

Re: GH2 stops recording

Steve, I am using SanDisk 32GB Extreme Plus, SDHC UHS-I card; "speed up to 80MB/s." I hadn't picked up SDXC cards because it was my understanding that I didn't need them unless I was moving to capacities above 64GB. But you confirmed the collective suspicions that the camera had been hacked, so I will move to return it to it's original state. Hopefully, I won't brick the camera in the process!

Bruce, I also appreciate the pointers on unhacking the camera--especially now that I know that's what needs to be done.

Many thanks!

Re: GH2 stops recording

Just be sure you start with a fully charged LUMIX battery. Don't take a chance with any 3rd party battery, one guy on dvxuser had one quit on him in the middle of the process and it bricked his camera.

Re: GH2 stops recording

To everyone who provided me with feedback about my badly behaving GH2, I am pleased to say that--with your help, and the 1.1 firmware installation, the camera is officially out of the doghouse and going back to work. It has currently been running for nearly an hour now and I am VERY happy with this outcome!

Thank you all! This is just one of many reasons that the DVinfo forum is my favorite above all others!!

Cheers,
~TW
