Hdx900 50p

What happens if I shoot 720/50P on an HDX900 (or other camera for that matter) and extract 25P from it (ie by dumping everyy alternate frame)? Would the material look just like it does if I shot it at 25P in the first place? No audio sync/tc I know.
Just wondering as a possible alternative to recording different frame rates on different tapes (which would be a real pain).

The best option would be not to throw away any information on ingest but rather have your NLE do the frame-rate conversion or, use plug-ins or something like Compressor/Episode Pro make the conversion on output. However the preferable method (obviously) is of course to shoot in the frame-rate you want your final output to be.

Not having the chance to do this myself yet, I would like to hear the answer to Steve's question.

Would a frame extracted 24p look any different from footage shot at 24p?

I realize that often people choose certain shutter speeds for 24p, but how does 24p extracted from 50 or 60p look?
