AJ-MC900 Microphone
Anyone have experience with this microphone? I have one that came off an old HPX2000 I used to own, and want to know how it works as a noisy environment shotgun for getting run and gun SOT's around fire trucks and such. Not sure if the shotgun barrel is just a fraud, or if it has hypercardoid tendencies when switched to mono mode. I plan on cutting off the 5 pin and replacing it with 2 3 pins for use on a small Sony X70 Handycam if it has enough cardoidedness.
Thanks! Paul |

Re: AJ-MC900 Microphone
AJ-MC700 and 900 are pretty similar. They will not reject side as well as the Sanken CS3e. So if you're in a very noisy place, CS3e is your best choice. Another way is to use a super wide angle lens and you can get close to the subject several more feet. Helps but not the same as CS3e or other specialized shotgun mice for noisy situation where side rejection is needed the most.

Re: AJ-MC900 Microphone
Not sure how you should wire the mic as you described with 48 Volt phantom. May not be an issue but worth checking on. You can buy a 5 pin XLR to 3 Pin Left Right breakout cable or have one made in case you need to go back to a 5 pin input at some point.
