Best external storage solution?

Hey guys--I am about to invest in a new 17" MBP (assuming their announcement pre-NAB) and am looking into external RAID storage solutions. So far I've been leaning towards this model from G-Raid:

I'd have to get a ExpressCard34 adapter for the FW800. I was reading another thread about some SATA solutions, however, and thought those sounded interesting. Any thoughts or recommendations?

The G-Raid works great for DVCPRO HD. I have two of them for a 90-min show and have had no problems whatsoever.

Thanks Shane. Which G-Raid are you using? Are you connected via FW800?

I am using two G-Raid 500GB drives connected via firewire 800.

Smooth sailing. And the interesting thing is that I can take that footage, on those drives, and upconvert on the fly with the Kona 2 and output 10-bit uncompressed HD to a D5...in realtime.

Sweet.

That is so cool Shane. Are you on a G5 tower?

Yes. The bulk of the work is on a Dual 2Ghz G5 (PCI-X). And I do some work with my Powerbook 1.67.
