HVX field monitor.

Sorry, this might have been already discussed,
We need to buy a good field monitor for our HVXs, one that can be monted on the camera, I'm wondering what you guys recommend for the monitor and for the mount.
many thanks

Hey Eric,

In fact this has been covered many times; just use the search feature and you'll pull up tons of info and suggestions.

One thing that has not been discussed much however is the actual mounting of the monitor. Any HD-capable monitor is going to add significant weight to the camera - if mounted to the camera directly - and I don't recommend it regardless which monitor you choose.

Many use the top-mounted hot-shoe for attaching the monitor, the problem is that it puts the CG too high for easy balancing - especially hand-held - and makes the HVX very nose-heavy and unweildy.

If you look at the Image Gallery on this site you'll see one of many possible mounting options; I've used the Zacuto base-plate in concert with a NOGA arm attached to the base-plate with a quick-release system on the arm and monitor. This make for a very easy and logical mounting situation however the Zacuto system is not inexpenive when compared to simply using the hot-shoe adapter mounts. However, it does open up a world of possiblities for mounting other accessories, allows the HVX to be properly balanced and prevents the CG from being too high.

thanks robert,
I did found some thread about monitor, I think I'll go with a 7'' Marshall.
As for the mount your mount seemed to be exactly what i need.
I'd rather spend a little more and get the right stuff.
thanks again
e.
