As far as I know it is PC only.

Carl Hoang October 7th, 2009 09:43 PM

This package is one heck of a deal for $2500.
I just sold my XL-2 w/20x lens and 3x lens for $2500 on Ebay.
Apparently you get more money selling on Ebay.

HD100 gets no love! Better image than HVX on Walter Graff's shoot out! Why does the XL2 win people over?

Seth Bloombaum October 7th, 2009 11:11 PM

A used HD100 is the best glass and best picture for the money, period. I don't own one, been sony all the way, but I work with HD100 footage on a regular basis.

I think that in that it is a 720p cam instead of 1080i/p has something to do with the low used value. What people who've not used one don't get is that beautiful picture is beautiful picture, and the HD100 has got it!

Brian Luce October 8th, 2009 12:08 AM

I agree 100%. And one great thing I appreciate, aside from the great image, is that an HD100/200 used with Firestore and tape, gives a long record time, redundancy, and instant cheap archive in the HDV Tape.

Another thing too, they're sexy as hell on a set. A value that isn't always appreciated.

Seth, I agree with the 720p comment, but, isn't the XL2 SD? Amazing people think 480F or whatever the Canon shoots is better than 720p.

Bump!

Prices not firm guys, make an offer. The monitor is a steal!

Hi Nate

Couple of questions

Does it also do CD's? I would think so, but thought it better to ask

Not clear what you mean by Parallel, serial, and firewire ports - does it need all three? or only one?

I've seen comments about needing a dedicated PC to drive these things and wondered if that is true or not?

Thanks much

Nate Haustein October 8th, 2009 08:14 AM

Yes it also does CDs. It needs parallel, serial and FireWire to fully function. I have a dedicated pc for it, but I doubt a newer system would have any trouble multitasking.

Sale is pending, I'll keep you posted.

Why would you not just buy a $300 PC to operate it? While a dedicated computer is not *required* to run one of these, it certainly is the preferred method - and how I operate mine.
