lacie

What is the model of the Lacie drives you are selling? How used is the opened one?

Thanks,
dave

Mat Jung October 18th, 2005 05:15 PM

They are LaCie 300gb Extreme Triple Interface Firewire 800/400/USB. The open one just doesn't have the firewire 800 cable, but works fine.

Rob, I've also emailed GlideCam to find out, as the site doesn't specifically say what part is upgraded. I do know for a fact, that the sled, vest and all of the accessories I have included are designed for either the V16, or V20 so you're covered there. I'm sure it's just a spring upgrade to the V20, and perhaps additional counterbalance weights (which you could buy at any Home Depot, they are basically giant steel washers)

Matthew, the V16 will happily accomodate the XL2. It's heavier weight (than the XL1S that I use), mattebox, rails, dual batteries, is much better suited for the V16 than my camera setup. Still, the heavier the load on the rig, the smoother it's potential end result. So you can still add weight plates to it.

Officially, the manual states the V16 handles cameras weighing from 10 lbs to 20 lbs, and the V20 can handle loads up to 30 lbs. So, you're in the middle, with your camera weight with room to spare if you added even more (mic, preamp, wireless audio, etc...)

Looking for: XL1S

If you have a Canon XL1S for sale, please contact me by posting a reply on this forum. Without intending to be too big of a pain in the ass, I will buy only from an original owner with a copy of the purchase receipt.

Also looking for: a Manfrotto tripod with fluid head; wide angle lens (Canon 3x); size 11 tap shoes.

Thanks.

Rob, the reply I got back from GlideCam states you send in the arm to them, and they replace the pins, springs, and bearings to accomodate the heavier loads. Shippnig the arm should not cost much, and GC's turn around time is pretty quick.

Mat Jung October 19th, 2005 04:13 PM

In fact, I'll throw the open 300gb hard drive with the powerbook if it goes for 2000.
