Glen,

I live in Los Angeles county area and I'm interested. I have some questions.

1)
You mentioned you have FCP HD installed on your G5, what other software does it come with if any?

2)
With the purchase of the G5 are you also including the CDs and license for FCP HD and other software that comes with it?

3)
Apple is selling a dual 2.0 Ghz G5 for $1,900 (*refurbished) with 90 day free support and one year warranty.

Why are you asking for $2,500 for a used G5 without support and warranty?

*What are Apple Certified Reconditioned Products?
Apple Certified Reconditioned Products are pre-owned Apple products that undergo Apple's stringent refurbishment process prior to being offered for sale. These products have been returned under Apple's Return and Refund Policies. While only some units are returned due to technical issues, all units undergo Apple's stringent quality refurbishment process. (According to Apple's website)

Here's Apple's link to verify the selling price I mentioned - scroll down to find the dual 2.0 Ghz G5
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL....3.1.1.0?75,54

Here's Apple's explanation of what's a refurbished computer
http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Im...certified.html

Please provide the answers to my sincere questions. If the price is right I may buy it from you and pick it up myself.

the link to apple's store has timed out but I'll vouch for dual 2's at 1999... they also sell the orginal dual 1.8 that allows for 8gb of ram for 1799...

not to mention this Tuesday all sorts of new stuff coming out...

upgrades to towers and powerbooks not to mention my speculation that we'll see:
iHome - G4 home entertainment unit
iPhone sonething... itunes over the phone...
a new iPod flash based player.

William:

I configured my system on store.apple.com a few days ago and it was $2,977 new. So I thought $500 off would be reasonable. I'm not sure if the used system you're speaking of comes with all of the same things my system does so I really can't compare me vs. apple refurbished.

The system will come as factory loaded from Apple. No other software will be included.

If you would like to discuss more about an offer and purchasing the system then please e-mail me.

Thanks.

*EDIT* I just looked at the refurbished computer section of Apple. All I found was a Dual 2.0 Ghz for $2,099. This system has a smaller hard drive, half the ram, slower graphics card w/ less ram, no 802.11G, no bluetooth, no wireless keyboard and mouse. So it's not really the same system at all.

Also, I believe that my computer's 1 Year Apple warranty is still valid even if you change owners....not positive about that....I'll try to look on Apple's site for more info.

Kevin Galliford January 10th, 2005 07:52 AM

Michel,
I may buy the camera from you, I have an auction on ebay that is ending in 3 hours if it sells theres a goodchance I may buy it from you. Just letting you know.

William Velasquez January 10th, 2005 11:51 AM

Greg,

Did you looked at the Mac G5 2.5 Ghz refurbished?

it's a Power Mac G5 DUAL 2.5GHz/ 512MB/ 160GB/ 8x SuperDrive/ PCI-X/ Rad9600XT - Apple Certified

the price is $2,799.00 but remember is a DUAL 2.5 Ghz machine. So to me if you compare this one with yours the price is not much of a difference. btw, your computer is considered used not refurbished by Apple standards.

Anyway, if you can tell me what price you're willing to let it go for I sure would like to find out and possibly buy it from you. Also consider that tomorrow there are new models and faster computers are going to be introduce and that will lower the current prices for the currrent models.

thanks!

Josh Brusin January 10th, 2005 12:32 PM

apple's 1 year warranty applies from date of purchase from apple clearance.

The 2099 model comes spec'd out lower than the 1999 dual 2 since the 1999 version is the older version (at the time top of the line with the extra ram/HD- replaced by the dual 2.5)

also they add product in the AM and generally sell out every day.
G4 ibooks for $699!?

-not to imply this system is nothing more than stock. It has nice extras.

I will take new photos tomorrow and post them. The camera and accessories have been packaged up since I first posted this thread.

Greg Wolfinger January 10th, 2005 11:29 PM

William:

If you would like to discuss a price for the system please e-mail me. Also, keep in mind that

1) I am willing to negotiate.

2) I think you are failing to take into account that my system has 1GB RAM, 250 GB hard disk, 802.11 g, bluetooth....The 2.5 ghz box does have faster processors but has less RAM, less disk space, no 802.11g, bluetooth.

3) You will have to pay tax if you purchased from Apple which will cost you around $200 (give or take depending).

4) My system is in absolute perfect condition. Although my system might have the title "Used" and not "Apple Refurbished"....I personally would trust my system over any Apple refurbished. I know that it may be easy for me to say that but I'm just trying to show how great of condition the system is in and how much i've babied it.

I hope to see an e-mail from you soon!

No problems let me know...if you are interested I can send you some screen shots from local news today. I was at the La Conchita mudslides just south of my home and later with sheriffs deputies evacuating a subdivision in Santa Barbara tonight as a favor to the n.d. of the local abc station. I took the vx instead of my xlis because its so portable and the footage I saw tonight they used didnt look bad :) however I would add about another 30 minutes to tape run through it...

Chris Fonke January 11th, 2005 06:16 AM

I'm strongly considering this camra Rob.....don't do ebay just yet. I've just got a bit more research to do.

I'm working on a video history project and am trying to find the camera I want to use + the accessories I'll need:

I had thought of getting a GL1, but am probably going with a GL2 because it's the current model. but like I said, the key focus for me is just figuring out the accessories I need (ie, mic, xlr adapter, tripod, etc).

There's another GL2 for sale as well I'm considering. I will hopefully have an answer for you tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks,
Chris
