Channel clearing?

Hi,
I'm new around here but I've been planning on buying an XL2 for about a month (gathering accessories on ebay) and when I first started seriously looking, there were two XL2's for sale on Ebay. TWO.

Last night there were 281.

And many starter packages under $4K now (with the 20x lens and the little junk nik-naks).

Any ideas when a new release is due from Canon? Does this sort of info leak regularly? Should it have already? I'd actually wait a couple more weeks for the price of the XL2 to come down some more, rather than necessarily jumping at the new camera, whatever it is. Anybody?

Tim

I have an ATW-R600 system that I plan on selling. But I am headed out of town in a few minutes. Send em an email if interested and I will figure out a price on Tuesday. Or else make an offer.

Hi Tim,

I would never assume anything from watching Ebay. Also I wouldn't worry about the price too much; these camcorders generally pay for themselves fairly quickly. Finially, if you're waiting, you're not creating. Hope this helps,

Hi Tim and welcome to DVinfo,

Although an HD camera of some flavor is expected later this year, in keeping with Canon's usual practice there is no official information. We have a forum dedicated to speculation (and there's a lot of it!) called Area 51, so you may want to check that out:

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?f=68

Also, if you're looking for the best value in price and reliable service, shop at one of the official DVinfo sponsors:

Chris Hurd, the "Kennelmaster" (owner) around here, has specifically chosen these few companies because they are the best in the business. Enjoy!

The Bogen 501 and legs have been sold. So has the Senn. E945.

OK, B&H is now down below $4K including the 20x (which I don't want).
Anybody want to buy a 20x lens? It'll be brand new...

Tim

Tim,
I checked ebay, and most of the posts are for accessories. Also, most of the adds for the xl2 are from the locust swarm of "on line " dealers, many with multiple adds.I didn't go past page 3, but didn't see many that looked like individuals selling their xl2.

GL2 w/accesories FS $1550.00

I am the second owner of this particular camera, having purchased it from a weva member 1yr ago. Approx. 50hrs use. Some minor scratches around the tripod socket and flash mount, as to be expected from normal use. Including a UV filter which has been on the camera since its purchase. Also 2x 4hr batteries (1 canon & 1 3rd party) and all original accessories. Shipping (UPS) for 48 contiguous states would be $30.00US. Prefer paypal or US postal service money order.

does it come with a warrenty? If I bought your camera could I buy a warrenty if I wanted for it, is there anyway I could?

Austin Puskas May 28th, 2005 12:29 AM

I am willing to buy your camera, all I need to know is, does the camera come with a warrenty? If you could buy a 2 year warrenty for the camera then add that to the price would be fine.

James Ramos May 28th, 2005 12:36 AM

There wa no additional warranty on the camera when I bought it, so unfortunately there is no warranty (manufacture/3rd party) to transfer. But the camera has been well cared for and there are no mechanical problems.

Austin Puskas May 28th, 2005 12:42 AM

I had a canon zr 60 camera and it had no warrenty, and the next thing it broke down. I haven't paid for it to be fixed yet because it comes out to $250. Is there anyway you can get a extra warrenty added onto this camera?
because thats all im looking for.
