FS GL2 package and accessories

I am the original owner of this Canon GL2. It has been a very good camera for me and I have to let it go now. I am including a black Lowepro Vidcam 6 shoulder-slung bag, a generic brand BP945 battery (silver, the 4 hr one), and an XLR transformer (more info below). The GL2 shows just the slightest amount of use, however, the hood has some scratches on the inside as I once taped a homemade diffusion glass inside it. If you are interested, I will give you pictures of the stuff.

The XLR transformer allows you to plug an XLR mic into the GL2 and use the GL2's audio level controls to control the level. This functions as a "beachtek" adapter, but is a fraction of the cost. Basically, it transforms the low impedence signal of an XLR line to the high impedence signal of a stereo mini line (mic jack on GL2).

I am asking $1850 but am able to negotiate a price.

I also have some other accessories that I am selling, but not necessarily as a package with the camera.

The Ewa Marine Underwater housing for the GL2
used two weeks, new condition
$400
Century Optics Reversible .55x Wide Angle/Fisheye for cameras w/58mm threads
barely used, new condition
$250
Canon ZR-1000 Zoom Controller
like new condition
$155
Azden WMS-PRO Wireless Lav System
missing the "handheld" mic, but it's really not a great mic anyways, the lav is
a great deal though, 3 duracell procell 9vs included, barely used, new condition
$140

Thanks for looking and all the prices are somewhat negotioble. Make me an offer.

Please feel free to email at scott@scotthalver.com with any questions

FS: Panasonic DVX100 -- Like-New Condition

Mint condition, basically unused with only 1 hour on the head meter! I purchased this camera in September, 2003 but had no time to use it before I purchased the DVX100A several months later.

All original accessories plus a new (unused) Birns & Sawyer chamois eyecup cover and a fresh Panasonic AY-DVM63MQ tape.

Price: $2,200 + shipping.
(U.S. buyers only, please.)

If you're looking for an economical way to get into 24P shooting this is a real bargain.

Email me if you're genuinely interested.

FS: Sony VX2100 Package (In Canada!)

Hey Everyone,
Unfortunately, I was just accepted to business school :) . This means I won't have much free time in the coming years to make movies. Because of this, I've decided to sell my basically new Sony VX2100 package.

The following items are included. If you were to buy them all new, these are their prices from Henry's Photo in Toronto (All prices in Canadian Dollars)

Sony VX2100 (EVERYTHING originally included with the camera is included) 4499.99
Sony VF-58CPKS Filter Set 199.99
NP-F750 8 hr Battery 159.99
LCH-VX2000 Hard Case (slightly modified to fit VX2100) 499.99
2 new Sony DVM60 Premium Tapes 9.99
+ 4 yr MACK Warranty Sony warranty (Transferable for $15 according to their website) ~200.00

Sub total: 5369.96
15% GST/PST:. 805.494

Total: $6175.45 CAN

I'd like $3600 CAN for the whole package. The camera was purchased new on December 11th, 2003, and is still covered under the original manufactuers warranty (Not that this really matters because of the additional 4 year warranty).

I don't know exactly how to check how many hours are on it (I've been told I need a service remote?) : From my estimates, and the considering the number of tapes I've gone through, I'd be very surprised if there were more than 8 hours on the heads total!

The camera itself is MINT and looks barely used.

I (as well as the camera) am located in Toronto, Ontario For the summer, and am available if someone wants to meet me / come inspect the camera.

Scott Halver July 15th, 2004 11:38 AM

Or best offer!

Mike Cavanaugh July 15th, 2004 01:22 PM

Scott - check your prices a bit - the Ewa housing for the GL-2 sells new for $409?

Michael Bendixen July 15th, 2004 02:46 PM

If they hold up great why do you recommend buying new? I agree, it's always nice to buy new though. Any recs on where to buy?

Michael Best July 15th, 2004 03:35 PM

That's my experience but you never really know how someone
treated them. I got mine at Guitar Center. There are tons of
online catalog/mail order companies. Sam Ash Music, Full Compass, Musicians Friend. Good luck, you'll be happy with
them.

Matt Stahley July 15th, 2004 06:23 PM

Ive had the same pair for 10 years. Replaced the earpads once other than that they are rock solid and sound great and i use them everyday.I would just buy em new as well if possible.

Scott Halver July 15th, 2004 06:29 PM

Of course my asking price is what I'd really like to get for it. I am fully open to negotiation. Make me an offer and we'll talk.

Thanks

HELP - WTB XL1 body OR GL2

Hey All,

Just got back from filming in Europe and wouldn't you know it - the XL1 fell off the tripod. Thank god for the GL1!

The XL1 lens is fine and I'm looking for someone who wants to sell an XL1 body or entire XL1 at a decent price.

OR I'd also be interested in purchasing a GL2 system instead. I was really impressed with the funcationality and ease of use with the GL1.

Can anyone help out here?

If so, please shoot me an email at: info@cmweston.com.

Thanks!

DVX100 to PD170?

Glen,

After you sold your DVX100 did you get a PD170 like you mentioned?

If so, how about an update on what you think of it, compared to the DVX you sold.

I've got no use for 24p, so I'm not willing to pay the premium for it with the DVX (wish I had bought a DVC80, but can't find one now). So while I can afford a GL2, I can stretch and get a PD170 if its really that much better. But I need to hear from someone how good the PD170 really is.

Beachtek dxa-6 for sale

Used, works great, good condition. $180 shipped.

Glen Elliott July 16th, 2004 09:00 PM

Yep- I sold it and got a PD-170...just recently picked up a 2nd cam, a VX2100 to match my PD-170 footage. Needless to say it was the best decision I ever made. If you don't need 24p then DEFINITLY go with a 170.

Here's some posts regarding my thoughts:

My first impressions of PD-170:

Patrick King July 16th, 2004 09:34 PM

I appreciate the reply and useful links.

Can't wait to see the rest of your film, it looks very well done. And all of it was filmed on the PD-170?

What kind of tripod did you use? It looked like you may have used a dolly on one shot instead of panning; yes?

Again, I appreciate the opinions, the raw data only tells you so much.
