HI, and thanx. yeah, I've seen a few on there, but I haven't looked lately, but thanx for reminding me...AND teasing me, lol. I've also perused eBay a bit, but you really need to watch who you buy from on there. Heck, with the prices they have, I might as well buy from B&H and save the S&H costs. Which I probably will do, if I don't find anyone with a considerably lower amount. I had seen another ad here in the classifieds from a member selling an XL2, and he even gave his eBay nic to verify...which I'm glad I did, lol. He had quite a few negative remarks, that convinced me NOT to buy from this guy.

I've had nothing but good service in the past, when I have used B&H to buy my still photog stuff. Plus, I like that fact that I save $$ on the S&H!

BUT...I am still in the market, and probably will be fora at least another 10 days or so.

Thanks again!

The tiltlock is not permanently loose as I had stated; it just needed to be tightened.

How many quick release plates do you have? Is there a carrying case?

Gene Crucean January 21st, 2008 11:20 AM

Hi James,

I'm sorry if you were the one I talked to a while ago. I've been busy with gig's and on the road up until just now.

I'm back at home again and this lens is still available if anyone is interested.

Ciao

NOTE! The tripod head is actually a DV8-100, NOT a DV8-100SB. The SB model has more counterbalance settings (12 as opposed to 5). Otherwise, the heads appear to be the same. I didn't realize they had released a new model, sorry about the error.

Here's a correct link to the lot up for sale:

SF BAY AREA = hard drive to BetaSP or Digibeta Transfer?

Hello.

I'm in need of an affordable transfer to Digibeta or BetaSP from hard drive. This is in regard to my student film, which I came to these forums for advice and help for a year or so ago (when I started shooting, I was 17).

I am in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Jose, CA).

I'm hoping to get an affordable deal as many of the big houses (names withheld) are asking for an upwards of $500-600+ which I don't feel is right (correct me if you disagree).

More info on the film as well as stills @ http://www.hdehal.com/oceania

I thank you in advance!

What format is it in on a your hard drive? As to whether or not their charge is too high, well it's too high for you, but if they can get it, they can charge it.

"Transfer" from hard drive to tape, can mean a lot of things.

Why not rent a deck for a day?

Joe Desmond January 21st, 2008 02:49 PM

Thanks,...

It is an uncompressed AVI (about 70 gigs).

I edited it on Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 (don't cringe too much).

In regard to renting a deck, I'm totally open to that except (a) I've never transferred anything, ever, except hard drive to MiniDV, and that's trivial and (b) I couldn't find anything but a DVCAM deck and I'd prefer to use something of highr quality (betasp or digibeta)

e.g.: I don't know how to transfer to Digibeta or BetaSP on a deck (or even how to use a deck).

Any advice?

IMO, you're not going to notice a difference with betaSP over DVCAM...so if $$ is a big concern, just go with that. If you REALLY want the highest possible quality, that would be Digibeta.

I always like to stick with digital formats when transferring something that's already digital...betaSP is analog.
