Bogen 522C LANC ??

Hi everyone.

has anyone had a chance to use the Bogen 522C Lanc controler yet? I tried a search and only found a coming soon article from 2002.

Also (this may sound really dumb) how do I figure out which one I need... the 13mm or the 19mm. I've got the 501 head, if that helps.

Aaron - I've been using one for several months now and so far it's worked very well. I tried three different VariZooms and had problems with the buttons on all three. So far, the 522C is better although the first one I received was defective and had to be returned.

One thing I don't like is the location of the focus controls. It's awkward to reach them without looking down to make sure you're hitting the proper button. Zooming is very smooth and easy to control though.

Layout of the controls on the VariZoom model I have is much better. Everything is right under your fingers. If the buttons had worked better I would never have ordered the 522C.

If you're using a Canon camera, the 522C will fit your 501 head.
If you're using a Sony, order the 522. If you're using a Panasonic, the 522P is the proper model.

Thanks

Thanks Ed.

I just bought one. I did not have time to wait for a Varizoom to arrive and figured that it could not hurt to try.

So far I like it a lot. I find it easy to use. It zooms very smooth and seems well built.

I will be putting it to the test on Friday in an interview so we will see how it all works out.
