treating Zoom Control

Hi,
I have recently made a boat trip for two weeks & found that in the %90 humidity my Manfrotto 523 Pro Zoom control's rubber has gone so sticky that I literally have to hold the control with the other hand to get the hand off holding the control.
Can anyone recommend anything I can do to stop this stickyness ?
thanks
