Re: Will you take this gig?

"we realize the constraints you will be working with, and won't be judging you on the artistic quality of your work."

And yet ... they want to see samples of the work. It boggles my mind. LOL

Re: Stage Events ... always interlaced?

Thank you for all the responses. There's a lot to take into consideration and many of you have presented information about progressive vs interlaced that I was not aware of.

I need to try a...

Re: Stage Events ... always interlaced?

Thank you both for your comments. I'm sure I'll have a rehearsal within the next few weeks that I "play" a little bit, but I've always wondered if it was possible to smooth it out if in progressive....

Stage Events ... always interlaced?

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway. For those of you that shoot a lot of dance recitals and theatrical performances ... does anyone ever shoot in progressive mode or do...

Urgent today: Video to Flash Drive

I have a performer who wants a video of her concert that I shot on a flash drive. It needs to go to NYC. I know a lot of you put your weddings on flash drive, but I don't know how big they are.

Re: XF-200 recording issue

Update:

I tried one more time just letting the camera run at 50 Mbps. It stopped recording after 15 minutes. So at this point I'm thinking its the card. It runs forever at 35 Mbps, but not 50....

Re: XF-200 recording issue

Fair enough. First of all I'm not well-versed on the i vs p, but my understanding is that if you're shooting a lot of action that I should be shooting interlaced. I no longer do weddings ... only...

Re: XF-200 recording issue

None that I've been able to find. Transcend has always been a reliable card for me in the past. I'm going to turn the camera on and let it run for a couple of hours and see if it does it again, but...

Re: XF-200 recording issue

It's about two to three weeks old, first time used, purchased from B&H.

XF-200 recording issue

Last night a theatre group that I am friends with allowed me to record a performance. I told them I had a new camera and wanted to check out some of the features and settings. This was NOT a paid...

Canon XF-200 custom display

My apologies for cross posting, but I have a show to shoot in two weeks and I'd like to get this figured out. So far I've not had any answers in the Canon forum.

I just purchased the XF-200 and...

Canon XF-200 custom display

I just purchased this camera and have spent the entire day going through all the various setups. So far, not bad ... but while I've managed to find my way to the custom #1 menu for the display, I...

Re: Canon XF305 external recorder

James ... good info on CF cards. I just purchased the XF200 and was wondering about the size cards I needed.

Just one correction though on the Nano site ... I believe that should be dot net.

Re: Shooting modes for stage events

Hi Dave ... I'm not really worried about the lack of internal drive, just that it is very convenient in the spring of the year. There are times when I'm shooting 4 different shows in a 5 day period...

Re: Shooting modes for stage events

Thank you Paul. I agree that having the availability to crop has been very handy ... especially when I have one un-manned camera set to wide. It's almost like shooting with three cameras at times....

Re: Shooting modes for stage events

Thank you for your response.

I'm fortunate that I have a show coming up where I can get in before the performance date and shoot some test footage. I do think I'm going to start with a lower...

Shooting modes for stage events

Even though I've been at this for a while, I don't have the comprehension to wrap my head around all the technical jargon when it comes to shooting modes, so I'm just going to throw this out and see...

Re: XF-200 Canon Battery Run Times

Actually in this particular case I could use a power supply, but I've gone so many years without using one that I'll probably just spring for the battery.

Thank you for the suggestions. I've also...

Re: XF-200 Canon Battery Run Times

:-) They take a 15 minute intermission and there's no reason to make my way down and turn it off. This is archive in the truest sense of the word. The placement of the camera in the older theatre...

Re: XF-200 Canon Battery Run Times

For the most part, the stage lighting isn't too bad. In one particular case, it's an archive video for the theater so all I do is set at wide and let it run. That's all they want for that particular...

Re: XF-200 Canon Battery Run Times

Thank you both. I'll download the manual.

I shoot mostly theatrical / stage events, so there is almost no turning on and off of the camera. This is a big help, so again ... thank you.

XF-200 Canon Battery Run Times

I'm trying to find out the real life run times of the Canon batteries for this camera. I'm getting ready to order one and I want to make sure I'm getting one that can easily go over 3 hours.

I am...

Re: Shootgun mic live events

Your comment about spending 4 hours working on the audio alone was right on target. I can't even begin to estimate the hours I spent working on audio this past month on what should...

Re: Shootgun mic live events

I could write a book on all the lousy sound issues I've had this year. It was so incredibly frustrating. I always take a feed, but that feed has become more and more useless. It's too many dad's...
