Re: Dji osmo

That wouldn't hold for the higher end cameras you can get, I assume, would it? Or do they all have the same data pathway to storage?

Re: What's the state of play on reasonably cheap high speed?

Depends where you are I suppose. Its not that it shouldn't command a high price for what you get, but I'm apt to let capitalism help me get toys cheaper when possible.
Here it's still in the...

Re: What's the state of play on reasonably cheap high speed?

Cheers. Yeah it seems to be creeping in to the feature lists. There still doesn't seem to be much that directly matches the FS700 in this area. Waiting for the next Gopro I suppose.

It's...

What's the state of play on reasonably cheap high speed?

A question I ask every year or so it seems.
I've been watching for the FS700 to come down in price or get some decent competition for what seems like forever. Yet nothing seems to have appeared. ...

Making of Mad Max: Fury Road from ACS Victoria with John Seale ACS ASC and David Burr ACS on Vimeo

Crazy desert shenanigans. (don't know if it qualifies as news exactly, but here goes.)

Re: Nebula in NAB 2015 Show

Now that is a cool piece of kit with a nice price. I wonder what it goes for after the Australia Tax gets added on.

Re: Colourising old film in the digital age

Months later...

I don't really know too much about this stuff specifically but, yes, generally speaking a black and white image should provide the tone channel for your newly coloured image.

Re: Aja has an $8,995 S35 4K camera, the Cion

Oh I don't doubt there's reasons of various sorts. I'm waiting for some competition for the FS700 myself.
I was just idly wondering. It's something I've seen growing quite a bit around here the...

Re: Aja has an $8,995 S35 4K camera, the Cion

It might mark me as a naif (and it's probably accurate) but why is 60 such a deal breaker these days?
Seems like it wasn't only a couple years ago.

Re: add a button to your Android phone!

Un-Smart that Smartphone!

Cool stuff. Immediately makes one want several headphone jacks.

Re: Scorpion Light from Blind Spot Gear

It's corded for one thing. They're often not very strong. They don't necessarily produce very much light and/or can't take a brighter globe easily because of size and heat problems in long term...

Re: Scorpion Light from Blind Spot Gear

Have definitely hacked a few ikea shelf lights and barbecue lights to do similar things in my time. It would be nice to have some tough ones that are full featured though.
I wonder what they'll go...

Re: Shortening AE Project Run Time... but NOT just speeding it up...

I'm only a month late, but hey...

If I understand the problem (and I'm not sure I do) if you go through and select every animated property in every layer of the animation you want to adjust, then...

Re: Is the Blackmagic URSA a game changer?

That's pretty cool. You do hear a lot of fondness for the Sonys of yore. It's like gas shocks and fuel injection in the ol Mustang. I wonder if one day we might see recastings in fibreglass with...

Re: Is the Blackmagic URSA a game changer?

The subject of design is a bit of a non starter really, on a purely aesthetic level. Ergonomics, sure. But so many cameras these days above a certain threshold just look like a differently shaped...

Re: Kinefinity's new MiniS35 2K cam

These guys always seem to get lost in the latest fuss over something by Blackmagic.
Has anyone around here used their stuff? (besides Dan Hudgins). They seem rather promising.

Re: Is the Blackmagic URSA a game changer?

I wouldn't call it a game changer by itself, but evidence of the changing game perhaps? As mentioned, there's a couple of other very nice looking cameras in roughly the same neighbourhood of price...

Re: Blackmagic has two new 4K cameras at NAB - "URSA" & "Studio Cam"

An expectation I guess must have been implied by every camera maker who put their XLRs only on one side.
Swinging boom single system ears only was a pretty common experience not so long ago. I...

Re: Blackmagic has two new 4K cameras at NAB - "URSA" & "Studio Cam"

Well, it's not that they shouldn't listen to them. But as these discussions usually develop, the 'pro-shooter' space usually wants particular things, as ever, that no one is going to deliver without...

Re: Blackmagic has two new 4K cameras at NAB - "URSA" & "Studio Cam"

Sure, why not? I think if they took a glance around a forum like this one they'd see pretty fast that most of the one-man-band and wedding shooter talk goes straight to whatever the latest high end...

Re: Digital Bolex shipping

Are you breathlessly checking the mail every few minutes? Answering each doorbell ring with the enthusiasm of a dog about to go walkies?
(this is what I'm like when new things are coming anyway)

Re: Digital Bolex shipping

I guess no one 'round here backed it. I'd be interested to see how it pans out. It's had its thunder stolen by BM a lot obviously, but still has potential.
Doesn't look like they implemented the...

Re: tekst has jagged edges

That's cool. If you feel like it you could put up a project file (just text or something) that shows those problems and see if it happens to anyone else.

Re: tekst has jagged edges

Hmm. You say it renders out in the file like this so it doesn't sound like it's some problem with Open GL or something else messing with WYSIWYG.
Off hand the main thing that springs to mind is...

Re: I just got kicked out for using the wrong mics. What did I do wrong?

This all hilarious (well, for me. No fun to experience I'm sure).
I'm sure a read an article only a couple of years ago by a soundie encouraging particularly new film grads and such to branch out...
