Re: Laptop: i5 + nVidia or i7 without nVidia?

Feel free to continue the conversation guys, but I've decided on my laptop :)

ASUS G75VW
17.3" @ 1980x1080
i7-3610M
12GB RAM (4 slots!)
750GB hybrid drive + 750GB 7200rpm drive (yes, dual bay...

Re: Laptop: i5 + nVidia or i7 without nVidia?

The good news for all of you is that I've decided against the Dell Vostro's. I've upped my budget to around $1000 and just a couple hundred bucks will get me something much better with no regrets...

Re: Laptop: i5 + nVidia or i7 without nVidia?

My budget isn't much to be honest, around $750 if it has the right specs. I know that's extremely low for something to edit video with but again, it's a secondary machine to just do basic cuts while...

Re: Laptop: i5 + nVidia or i7 without nVidia?

Randall, thanks for your helpful advice.

So if I can find an i7 laptop with an nVidia GPU, it would be the way to go? Unfortunately Dell doesn't have any of those offerings (at least not within my...

Re: Laptop: i5 + nVidia or i7 without nVidia?

Thanks for your input, David. Yes, I will at most be only doing rough cutting. So if Premiere will edit quickly with 1080p footage (DSLR footage) then I should be good. :)

Laptop: i5 + nVidia or i7 without nVidia?

Hi guys,

I have a small budget for a decent laptop that will act as my secondary editing machine (I have a good desktop to take care of the heavy work), and I'm hoping you guys can help me out

Re: New editing mac for wedding

If you want a machine that won't fail, the Mac Pro is it. I too have the same machine (Mac Pro 3,1 right?) and I can see it going strong for another 3 years. That is, if technology doesn't go into...

Re: Lens advice

Lots of info and related posts in this forum. The first thing you need to figure out is your budget. But all in all, many people will suggest the Canon 17-55 f2.8 for a wide-mid zoom, and the 70-200...

Re: T2i vs. T3i vs. 60D

I have the T2i and got the 60D when it came out and I'm very happy with it. I love the swivel screen, which you're going to get with either choice. I was tired at holding the T2i at eye level, and it...

Because all 60 frames are still there and your software doesn't have to make up additional frames to try and make a smooth slow-mo, which is what twixtor tries to do. Hope that makes sense.

Of course, that's why I added that bit at the end ("works if you tweak things" etc) but perhaps I should have emphasized that more. I'm definitely no colorist so take my words with a grain of salt :p...

The only prime I know of that has IS is the Canon 100mm F2.8L IS Macro lens. Looks like if you're looking for a lens faster than F2.8 with IS, you're out of luck.

I posted a picture of something I CC'd. Usually I don't CC but the footage right out of the camera (top) was horrible. With a few clicks with FCP's 3-way colour corrector, I was able to get an image...

I would have to agree. After using and holding the 60D, the T2i indeed feels like a toy -- plastic, smaller, lighter, and cheaper.

I love the 60D for:

- the LCD screen -- great for low and...

You don't want to keep waiting for the next 7D or 5D upgrade. It could be coming soon, it could be a while, who knows? (the people that do know won't say)

I heard Vincent Laforet himself speak in...
