Re: Affordable, Quality Camera for Talking Head Videos

You can get the Panasonic G7 with kit lens for $597 as long as you catch the sale price, which is currently on now.

Re: Need advise selling camera's

I would second the idea of donating to a school, and writing it off. Probably get the most value out of them, if you can write off closer to what you spent than what they're worth. Check with an...

Re: Nikon DL line of Cameras ?

You probably won't get too many answers on this one, considering these cameras still haven't shipped, so nobody actually has them...

Re: Your RAID solutions.

I have used RAID 5 setups from Synology and OWC (32TB and 20TB, respectively), both have been solid performers. I'd recommend them both.

Oh, and I'm currently running HGST Deskstar NAS drives....

Re: How to Properly Transfer Files to External

Is "manually copy/click and drag your file structure as-is from the computer to the OWC and then re-link in Final Cut" too simple of an answer?

That's what I've always done... But I prefer to...

Re: What camcorder would you buy?

This. This right here is exactly why broadcast standards exist.

You would cry if you knew exactly what they were going to do to your video before it hits air.

What are the others on the market delivering? Do you know specs, or have examples of the competition?

Re: 24, 30 or 60?

I agree with everything Jon said, especially this bit.

In my experience, universities have completely misunderstood the terms of their ASCAP/BMI University licenses, and think they have carte...

Re: Handing Students Footage

Pretty much this.

And you have to keep in mind any distribution limits that your planned festival entries could have as well.

Re: Football 60fps vs 24fps Timeline

It's more commonly called speed ramping, and it's what you call the effect of video transitioning from normal speed to high-speed and/or back again.

I was just pointing out that there are more than 2 NLEs out there, and trying to find out what he was having problems with.

I'm assuming you're talking about Avid and Premiere Pro?

Or Final Cut Pro and Sony Vegas Pro?

Or Smoke, Edius, Pinnacle, or Corel?

There are more than two "first tier" NLE programs, and...

Re: How did they do this? Timelapse?

The projects I've done in this style were either :15 or :30 seconds, not even close to 18k frames. The scale was a bit smaller, so that method worked.

Re: How did they do this? Timelapse?

I've done stuff like this before, and the easiest way (for me, at least) was to set up a DSLR on manual and run it at its max continuous shoot speed (around 5 fps on the cam I had at the time) and...

Re: D600 doubts?

There is no "Nikon Magic Lantern" hack. Magic Lantern only works for Canon.

The D600/D610 has full manual control in video mode. The only caveat to that is you must switch out of liveview to...

Re: Zone Focussing in Sport: Best Practice for One Man Operation

What camera/lens are you using? Where will you be positioned in relation to the field?

How much zooming will you be doing, and how tight will you be framing those shots?

Re: What Camera To Shoot This?

Basically, you'd need a small 4K camera like the GH4, tripod, stabilizer, a quadcopter, and a underwater housing.
