Re: What Don't You Like about the BMPCC?

I'd wouldn't mind it having 60p, even if it were only in ProRes with a slightly reduced bitrate - do ProRes 422 non-HQ would be fiiiine :-)

Re: What's wrong with this setup?

That's a tough one, since there is nothing wrong. I'm also voting for the left image. It looks more natural. The harsher shadows on his face also give the interviewee more character. The right image...

Re: What do I need to add? An Adobe Maximus Configuration?

Going through the specs of you current system, I'd say there's not too much to upgrade right now. The base of your system is still top-of-the-line. The only thing I can think of as an upgrade would...

Re: Best inexpensive green screen camera

Just to complement some of your info - the Blackmagic Pocket will also be shooting Cinema DNG RAW, as well as ProRes - just like it's 2.5K and 4K siblings.

So the data from the Pocket won't be...

Re: Blackmagic Pocket Cam lens?

I got one of these for €50 from eBay. Personally think it'll be a nice way to get started, to play around with the camera. But for serious stuff it's not really practical. I'll probably like it...

Re: Tourism video — UAV?

I personally think all those bigger motion shots are all a UAV. It also makes a lot more sense to me to use a UAV than it it does to a helicopter for a job like this. You can't really get up close...

Re: The Blackmagic Pocket camera - not as sharp...

I'm also very interested in this camera. And not scared away by the 'not as sharp' statement. Since I'm coming from a downsampled and heavily compressed h.264 stream from a Canon 550D/T2i - so I...

Re: Black Magic Cinema 4K

The sensor is bigger, so that would mean more light sensitivity. But it's also got more pixels, so that'd slightly decrease sensitivity. The original version had a native ISO of 400 (if I'm not...

Re: 4K Raw from BMCC good enough for stock footage vs RED or Sony

Those lenses have the same glass elements as their non-Cine counterparts. Those still lenses take absolutely gorgeous pictures with the 20+ megapixel camera's like the 5D. So I wouldn't be too...

Re: Black Magic codec for CS5.

Did your second shooter film the footage as DNG RAW sequence or compressed footage in DNxHD or ProRes. Those are the only options.

The DNG RAW sequence should be easily recognizable, since...

Re: Best EF to MFT adapter

The EF > M4/3 adaptor you're looking for the is Metabones Speedbooster EF>M43 (will be available later this year). That'll (most likely) decrease your crop factor (x0.71) and increase your...

Re: footage from the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera

Combine this cam with a 24mm Rokinon f/1.4 and a Speedbooster EF>M4/3 (will be released later this year) and you'll have effectively a fullframe equivalent of ~49mm f/1.0 ...

Re: Which SDXC card ?

It's not officially known yet, but these are (well educated) best guesstimates:

ProRes (220Mbps HQ): at least 35 MB/sec write speed
Compressed RAW DNG (1.2:1 compression): at least 70MB/sec write...

Re: BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera Super 16 Sensor

This is exactly what I was thinking about when I read about the sensor. I was wondering what the effective focal length of my current lenses would be on this S16 sensor - and thought more people...

Re: C100 Wildlife test

Looks great. Especially when you download the original MP4 instead of watching the embedding Vimeo video (which contains terrible compression artifacts as usual with Vimeo) --- Africa. Would love to...

Re: Camcorder equal to the 5D quality?

The closest I can come up with is the Sony NEX-VG900 at close to $3,200. Next in line I'd name the Canon C100, but that sells for a bit more, around $6,500

Both should have great low-light...

Re: iPhone to AV receiver

Correct. At least, that's how the 30-pin dock connector to HDMI adapter works. Will expect exactly the same from this new Lightning cable..

Re: New laptop no firewire, expresscard or PCMIA slot

This is sadly not possible. Tape-based camera's and modern-day laptops don't work together very well. For the moment there is no such thing as a USB3 > FireWire adapter/module.

Capturing footage...

Re: New laptop no firewire, expresscard or PCMIA slot

Like Colin said - it depends for what. The requirements for capturing HD/SD and editing HD/SD are different. The format/codec in which you edit is an important detail - H.264 1080p will edit just...

Re: Is a Mac Pro 8 Core 2.8GHz with 8GB RAM fast enough for FCP7 and AE?

That most certainly will do fine - CPU-wise at least. For AE I would suggest getting extra RAM.

Personally, I wouldn't buy that extra RAM from Apple themselves, they charge way too much! If you...

Re: 5dMk3 Pixelation - Corrupt Files?

Could be a number of things

- The CF cards you used to shoot with are corrupted, hence the files are damaged - might want to give those CF cards a complete check-up just to be sure!
- Something...
