Re: How do you white balance dance recitals / stage shows?

I don't do stage shows that often, but shooting RAW does help a lot with changing lighting. I've got 2 cameras that shoot RAW now, one is 6K, the other 4K. I plan to add a third at some point. ...

Re: How do you white balance dance recitals / stage shows?

National TV is dying in the UK. Every year, audience numbers dwindle. Many of us watch content via Netflix, Amazon and the like. Regional news not being HD is an embarrassment. When I do watch...

Re: on the other side

I only take a £50 deposit. Which is non refundable on cancellation. I'm not planning a loan. I'm hoping my savings and the grant from the Government in June will coast me over until the Weddings...

Re: on the other side

I'm not taking any balance bills from any Weddings rescheduled for next year. I shall weather the loss this year and hope these rescheduled Weddings will support me next year.

Any tax increase...

Re: Corona Virus cancellations

Triple whammy for me with this Virus. Like others, most of my work till July have been postponed or cancelled. A few have held on, but I'm not optimistic. Whether I can salvage this year from...

Re: BMPCC 6K review after a few months...

I can't answer all your questions as some of the functions you enquire about I don't use and my Pocket 4K is not with me to check. And I don't yet own a 6K Pocket.

Peaking and zebras are...

Re: BMPCC 6K review after a few months...

Does the S1H offer a RAW codec? Does it offer punch in focus during recording? Does the S1H offer 6K at 50fps? Does it record to SSD drives via the USB input, does it come with free editing...

Re: Question for monopod users?

I use a light stand that can go up very high. Issue is it's not as stable and I have sand bags for the base in dancefloor situations. However footage at eye level is preferred. I don't want all my...

Re: Question for monopod users?

I really wish running 2 cameras would prevent people blocking them. But I have on occasion done so and had people working for me run 2 cameras. It still happens. Difference is, with 2, you're...

Re: Question for monopod users?

It depends how you use them. For Speeches, I have a camera on wide as per yourself. I have a camera on the person speaking, a camera on the couple, a camera covering the top table and then I am...

Re: Question for monopod users?

That's odd, I use 4 to 5 cameras myself. Never got the sense guests were uncomfortable with them myself. I keep them as discreet as possible. In fact they are so discreet, guests don't notice them...

Re: Question for monopod users?

I use it exclusively for Bridal and Groom Preps. Some Ceremonies, between 50% and 90% of the Photo Session, never for Speeches or 1st Dance and about 70% of the dancing. Rest of the time, my main...

Re: How do you protect your wedding clients?

I have done, but its not ideal. If time is limited, then yes reluctantly. However frequently less so for interiors as they are often decorated unique for each Wedding. Even the exterior such as a...

Re: How do you protect your wedding clients?

Deposit in my mind has little to do with payment for services rendered and more an act of good faith to show you are committed to the service. I think some couples even take comfort in feeling...

Re: How do you protect your wedding clients?

What about a deposit??? Any money before the Wedding??? I'd think it too risky to take full payment on final delivery. I have enough hassle getting song choices after the Wedding, which is why I...

Re: How do you protect your wedding clients?

Hi Peter,

Ha ha, yep that was me. In fact that was my 3rd ever Wedding - I was nervous as hell that day. I did my 2nd one in February 2010 (not 2009 as I said earlier) and then that was June or...

Re: recommended USB drives?

Hi David,

I tend to scout Amazon for deals then bulk buy. I did get one dodgy batch, but the thing about Amazon, there's a good process for getting it replaced, which Amazon takes seriously, so...

Re: Wedding Guys, What's Happening?

I'm not sure laziness is the reason weekend warriors have failed to jump onto live streaming. Most weekend warriors are exploiting a hobby for extra cash. Putting their work online for their...

Re: How do you protect your wedding clients?

I think the weekend warrior is hardly a new phenomenon and I have to admit back in 2005 I was one such weekend warrior, taking on my first Wedding with 2 consumer camcorders. One borrowed, the other...

Chris, you want the easy life. You're the sort to let the boulder run down the hill. I'm the sort who likes pushing it up. :)

And what's wrong with editing? I love editing and especially love...

Paul, I've a mix of several types of video work every year, from concerts, to music videos, to Promo videos, filming seminars and Weddings of course. Weddings take the longest to edit. They are by...

Re: How do you protect your wedding clients?

Paul, alas you're speaking in ignorance. The main issue for us is that our work is seasonal and confined to certain days. Hence if we allocate a day to a client, we are refusing work to other...
