Re: I think I found a nice adapter for quick release filters!!!

Yeah, that's why I was sharing that info about the 82mm filter, I found that the 77mm could vignette on wide angle lenses....so when I was looking for a 2nd variable ND I got the biggest one I could....

Re: Ultrawide monitors

Brian,

I haven't used that monitor but I do have a 30 inch Costco special full HD TV for my edit bay screen. Personally I like it better than two 22 inch screens . When you have a client...

Re: EA50 - B camera ideas

I have a FS100 for my A camera. I found a VG20 on eBay from a video dealer ( out of respect for
DVinfo sponsors I won't name names) for under $1000 and it was a demo unit, practically
brand new. ...

Re: NEX + speedbooster + Sigma 18-35mm f1.8?

Speedbooster only works with full frame lenses.....so nope, won't work.

Re: I think I found a nice adapter for quick release filters!!!

Hmmm....using step rings on all my lenses with the Xume system and no problems.
I wonder what they mean by cause them to be not as strong? I'm clueless on that one.

Re: I think I found a nice adapter for quick release filters!!!

I have the Xume system. It's awesome. But to speak to the mentioned problem......

I have two variable NDs. The Heliopan in 77mm and the new Genus Eclipse in 82mm. All my
lenses get a step...

Re: Kit Lens or 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Telephoto Lens: SELP18200

Wow is the FS700 that much worse than the FS100 in low light? I can use 18db of gain
and can hardly see any grain at all.....still very nice and clean on the FS100 at 18db.

Re: Newbie looking for FS100 advice / Insights

I HIGHLY recommend the Xume system. It makes using ND so much easier. Just snap the filters on
and off lenses. The magnets are almost strong enough to pick up the lens by the filter without them ...

Re: Newbie looking for FS100 advice / Insights

Bill,

You might look into shortening the LCD viewing tube that came with the camera if it would help fit
your rig. Take out 4 screws, and you can velcro or use black gaffers tape, and suddenly...

Re: Newbie looking for FS100 advice / Insights

Maybe I've just been lucky. I've shot high school football, basketball and USA junior gymnastics
with the kit lens and never had problems with autofocus. A-mount and LAEA2 would be even
better...

Re: Auto iris control adapter

I just ordered one yesterday. I don't have a ea50 but I have a FS100 and a VG20 I will
test it on. Also have a Metabones Mark II that I can compare it too (just needed a second
adapter after I...

Re: Hate fcpx, I no I will love it after learning

If that question(s) were aimed at me, I'll do my best to answer.

1. Background rendering is cool......except when it starts to slow my editing to a
crawl because the computer can't deal with...

Re: Hate fcpx, I no I will love it after learning

That's funny because.......multicam is about the ONLY thing I like about FCP X better than
FCP 7. Granted, that is because I have a TON of time invested in learning FCP 7 and all
the keyboard...

Re: Any luck selling/shooting live events?

Ha, I got one more tip for you, as I have used a VX2100 in my livecasts many times. Here it is.
Put a tape in it and hit record at the start of the webcast. If the tape runs out, eject it, put...

Re: Any luck selling/shooting live events?

You know, I have not ever used PPV features or ad supported or anything like that. They are all interesting, and I've looked into live streaming high school sports, because in my area, all the high...

Re: Any luck selling/shooting live events?

I've done this a fair bit. I usually use a couple old DV cameras (one reason I keep a couple old PD150s around). There are a couple reasons for this. First HD streaming is high bandwidth and...

Re: Cine Alta

Both the FS100 and FS700 have s35 sensors and can shoot 24p but neither is badged as
a CineAlta (not to mention the Vg20 or 30 as they are technically APSC sensors that can shoot 24p.)
I think the...

Yup, I will be posting a video comparison of them on my blog soon. Suffice it to say for now, that
I am VERY pleased with the Genus Eclipse version of their fader filter. Also, be aware that it...

Re: Genus Eclipse ND Fader filter test

So back before the Genus 'Eclipse' version came out, I bought a Heliopan variable ND, as
the Genus variable filter at the time wasn't nearly as good as their 'Eclipse' version. I bought
the 77mm...

Re: Does anyone shoot with a Sony NEX-FS100UK for weddings?

You got me there :-). I was comparing a used FS100 to a new EA50 which is not fair.

Re: Does anyone shoot with a Sony NEX-FS100UK for weddings?

Point is it has a chip designed for shooting motion, not a chip that is compromised by being
a high megapixel still chip. FS100 has better low light ability and better dynamic range than the EA50....

Re: Does anyone shoot with a Sony NEX-FS100UK for weddings?

Only you can decide if its worth buying it, but you are hearing correctly.
The FS100 is amazing in low light, and you can add in a lot of gain without
seeing any grain. Maybe look into a used one?...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

Al,

So since I live in a small, remote town in Alaska (no road access, only way in or out is
by airplane or boat), the value of your referral system only goes so far. In fact I am
actually the...
