Re: Candid filming in dark venues - to light or not?

Or (for the times you can't use the stands such as when on the move roaming through milling folks at cocktail), raise up your monopod and have your LED on the camera at a reasonably dimmed strength...

Destination Wedding :|: {Plymouth MA} !!

Ok - so I admit, just having a little fun with "destination" title of the post -- just trying to get your attention.
(And please: no offense to you real destinationers -- your work is marvelous and...

Why not do a line from the soundboard into your digital recorder?

Re: Export Wedding DVD for iPad playback

Hi, Taky,
I too would love to have my Encore Web builds work on iPad. One question: I understand what you mean about manipulating the HTML to point to the MP4 videos, but how do you make the MP4...

Re: HD Delivery Question

More and more blu-ray requests my way. I always include one copy for the bride and groom even if they don't ask (just so they have incentive to find themselves a player and watch the best quality...

Re: My life sucks

Hilarious! In my opinion, it takes him 3 full seconds longer than it should to pull out his right arm (with the L lens/camera). Wouldn't your first instinct be to raise the equipment from the water?

Re: Light in my Eyes during speeches

That's a good point. If you politely/quietly nudge the speaker into a position, no one is going to notice/remember. Or, to look at it the other way, they WILL notice/remember if your video looks...

Re: Priests That Won't Wear Mics - How do you Cope?

Hi, Katie,

Good post topic.

I generally (like Don B) mic the groom and the lectern. If the speakers on the side of the sanctuary are low enough, I'll put a mic on a stand close to one of...

Re: Shooting Weddings in 30p and Authoring Bluray

Again,

As my first post shows, I obviously wasn't quite aware of the blu-ray capabilities, but I'm pretty picky about final quality, and 30p -- through the workflow of Compressor (H.264 Blu Ray)...

Re: Shooting Weddings in 30p and Authoring Bluray

That's interesting. I guess I stand corrected then. I didn't realize that the progressive didn't carry over in 30p. At any rate, whatever the case, when I follow the workflow I put above, the...

Re: Shooting Weddings in 30p and Authoring Bluray

Hey Katie -

It should always stay progressive I believe. Maybe 60p on some players/tvs, but not interlaced I don't think.

My workflow: ProRes timeline, Export to QuickTime (yes big file but...

Re: How are videographers dealing with copyright restrictions?

I've gotten more cynical over the years, but I am not sure about things not changing in our lifetimes. With rapidly changing technology and changing ways we access to music, I could imagine...

Re: How are videographers dealing with copyright restrictions?

That sounds like a pretty apt analogy to me, Jeff. I guess the part that gets sticky is the question of who actually owns the house in the end. Unfortunately, even with seemingly simple and...

T3i short art film using Cineplus Profile

Would love any comments on the use of the Cineplus Profile (some coloring with Magic Bullet, but not much, here and there). Any suggestions based on this video -- anything from color grading to...

Re: How Many Use a Spilt Screen Technique for Recitals?

And this whole dilemma gets exacerbated when (especially modern choreographers) use video backdrop on a screen behind the dancing. Yikes.

Re: How Many Use a Spilt Screen Technique for Recitals?

Not at all, Nigel! :) I was simply meaning that I give both options on the DVD menu. 1 - first, to watch it from ONLY the wide angle. Second, to watch it the way I spliced the two together at my...

Never too busy to answer an honest fellow like you! (And would have continued the email conversation if you had written back!) :)

All that I meant is that I create a second option in...

Yes, of course!

It's been a while since I updated my FCP 7 in order to ready it for EOS import -- but I think it involved the EOS plugin?

Re: Long DVDs, What Bit Rate?

Dual layer all the way! The price is hardly different (plus, how many copies are we talking for events like weddings -- it's a negligible difference). And Chris: you mention "slower burning" --...

Re: Has anyone used Magic Lantern on a T3i/600D yet?

I am loving ML on the T3i. It's great for timelapse, too.

The only glitch for me is that the picture within picture focus (which does work fine normally) malfunctions AFTER you've zoomed in 3X. ...

Cineplus Cinema Profile Setting on T3i

Hello, all,
