Re: X70 - update?
Never thought of that. TBH I don't manually zoom to zoom live, I only do it, out of habit, to focus. Again, prev camera method. For some reason I'm not in the habit of focus magnifier, although I do...

Re: X70 - update?
It's a pretty easy camera to figure out. Only thing I recall offhand is the zoom/focus ring is shared, so theres a button to toggle between the two. However, it can be a pain if you have focus in...

Re: Recommended Settings for PXW X70
I think Profiles vary location by location. A church could be dark brown, or tan drywall. Really varies so I would just cycle thru them when on location. Some darken colors well, some lighten them...

Re: Recommended Settings for PXW X70
I agree with Jeff re; Gain levels & Shutter Speed. I've had the X70 for this year & find that a Gain or 12-18 is the sweet spot for indoors, while over 18 starts to become critical mass. I've used 21...

Re: Need to upgrade camcorder in kit
Sorry for the delay in responding but it does work this way. There's an "Input 1" option at the front of the XLR box, which offers you to put it to Input 1&2 (ie same mic for both lines), or just...

Re: Need to upgrade camcorder in kit
Mike, I've thought about that but never did use it. I'll check but I'm pretty sure it would take Input 1, Input 2. I actually use the shotgun which came with my Z5 for most non-important stuff,...

Re: Need to upgrade camcorder in kit
MIke, I'm coming from the Sony Z5U and it was suggested to me to check out the Sony X70 which I ended up purchasing. A small little camcorder setup which packs a punch. It's got XLR inputs, manual...

Re: Email Marketing
Funny, I just thought about this thread earlier today (I posted in it back in Feb). A quick rundown, it was for more along the lines of web design work. Which I do. I did run the campaign,...

Re: How to change the file naming convention
Bumping an old thread here, but it's relatable. Is there a way to change the file naming convention? I have 2 Sony's which use the 0000, 0001, 0002 etc clip naming. Gets awkward in Premiere having...

Re: editing swivel chair
It just caught my eye and I had a revelation. I wasn't really too willing to go the sit/stand route when looking. I'm typically a cheapskate but with work, weddings, and some side stuff I'm at a good...

Re: Have we taken Wedding Fims a step too far?
There's more "demand" for photography, but there's also more photographers & competition. Oddly I've found alot are also friends/acquantances. Alot of people 'know someone' who does wedding...

John,
I posted in another thread about how I was having back problems (I'm 43, fwiw). I think it wasn't so much from shooting weddings (carry 2 camera bags & tripods around), tho it partially...

Re: Health/Back Concerns
Yeah Ikea's a great store. I really like the DIY vibe they put off, here in America we need that. "There's your stuff, over there in a box. Go take it and go home and put it together yourself".

Noa,
I picked up this one: BEKANT Desk sit/stand - birch veneer/white - IKEA (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S99022526/#/S59022528) It was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but...

I've been meaning to follow up with everyone on this and thank everyone for their input & advice. I did do a pretty decent overhaul upgrading from the old Z5U to a little Sony X70. It's been a few...

Re: Windows 10 free?

Re: How to make yourself invisible
Actually that's a good idea. However, only obstacle I see is when live people are in the shot, sitting, motioning etc. Could create a bit of a jump cut if they suddenly move a bit. Jarring.
I...

Well, if you shoot with only 1 card recording, and let's say you're main camera card is lost or corrupt. You still should have the Camera 2 card of the ceremony. Granted, it's a 1 shot unmanned...

Re: Memory card management on the day
I change during cocktail hour, before the entrances. It gives me nice downtime where I can take my time, and be extremely careful, not doing it in a rush. It splits the day up evenly, bridal prep,...
