Re: c100 users enlighten me from the 60d

In many ways, even my XL-h1 is a better match to the c300 than my dslrs... Except in lowlight situations where you don't even get an image. I had high hopes for the bmpcc as a b-camera, but I'm not...

Re: c100 users enlighten me from the 60d

Steve. I've told this story a number of times, but at the c300 launch (different camera, same image), canon made the gutsy move of projecting the demo films on a 90 foot screen at the Paramount...

Re: Color...is it me?

I'm sorry Steve. I've looked at this footage on two different machines, and it's pretty typical of what I'm seeing from my camera and the vast majority of footage posted online. Heightened, pinkish...

Re: Insurance for C300, what do you guys do?

You have to be careful, as photography equipment generally falls under "special" equipment circumstances, meaning there can be lots of surprising "exceptions" to your coverage. (like $ limits per...

Re: Color...is it me?

Hi John,

The subject is the BMPCC. It (currently) has no raw. In my opinion you can't push it around like a drunken sailer or all over the place, as you put it. And there was nothing strange (or...

Re: Color...is it me?

Giacomo, Craig -

In my experience the warmth seems to be intrinsic to the camera. When white balanced properly (well that's a misnomer, because this camera has no white balance feature, only...

Color...is it me?

I'm just getting started with this camera, but so far I'm really having a hard time with the color. After watching Philip Booms review, I felt all of his footage looked a little instagrammy and...

Re: C300 - fan noise

Now I feel inadequate. Damn you. :-)

Maybe it's just my hearing.

Re: C300 - fan noise

Not so sure about that. I have the number 0000025 camera (got it the first day)... And no fan noise for me.

Re: C300 - fan noise

My c300 has a fan? :-)

Seriously, I've never really noticed it... And it's hard to imagine picking it up on mics, unless the camera was close, and in the the line of sight of a sensitive shotgun.

Re: JIM JANNARD RESIGNS as Face of RED

I don't think comparisons to Steve Jobs are accurate at all relative to my comment. Being prickly isn't the point. Criticizing Microsoft wasn't either. If Apple had announced the iPhone two years...

Re: JIM JANNARD RESIGNS as Face of RED

I think the man deserves his due. He did reshape the landscape. Simply conceiving of a US based camera manufacturing company was enough...but he has pushed an envelope that didn't want to be pushed,...

Re: Anyone get their pocket cam yet?

Talked to my dealer yesterday...they haven't seen anything. My guess is "shipping" is not the same as "shipped".

Re: UPrezzing C300 to 2K

For what it's worth. At the C300 launch, Canon presented all of the creative shorts on the big screen at Paramount Studios main theatre. It's a really big screen. (25x51') I was seated in about the...

Re: C100 grainy images

To add to what Matt said....

C-Log is for situations when you know you will be color grading. It has the highest dynamic range available on the C series cameras (canon says 12 stops although they...

Re: C100 grainy images

When the C300 first came out, there were a number of posts echoing that their first images looked noisy. Primarily this was being caused by using any of the presets (standard rec709, cinegamma's etc)...

Re: Power for the C100

Looks like Anton Bauer makes a product...the CA940 Anton/Bauer CA940 Gold Mount for Canon C300 - NAB 2012 - YouTube

Frankly though, the canon battery system is so nicely integrated and...

Re: New from Black Magic Design - 4K Cinema Camera

To add to what Jim said, and don't get me wrong...I think the BMPC is an exciting product for the price, (I pre ordered one) but it's really not in the same league featurewise as the any of the 12k+...

Re: Canon requires Serial Number for XF download?

yeah, It was screwy when they changed it to require the SN. Problem for me was...when I went to look at my camera, the S/N on the bottom was all smudged (nice ink there, Canon) and it's pretty much...

Re: Blu ray quality on normal DVD?

I've been doing this for the past year or so with Toast. It's simple and intuitive, and the quality looks great. However, as others have said....this isn't a distribution method as a lot of older,...

Re: Using sliders for interviews

Hi Travis...To answer your question (and not judge whether you know what you're doing or not :-)) I'd probably use something like the Dana Dolly, not a traditional bearing based slider, as they all...

Re: Canon Cinema Primes vs. Canon L Series -- possibly NSFW

I see neither (of course we are looking at a compromised vimeo version). I do see an obvious exposure variation that is giving the illusion of more contrast and detail...but neither seem to be the...

Re: Canon Cinema Primes vs. Canon L Series -- possibly NSFW

I agree. Frankly I can't see a lick of difference optically between the two lens systems, other than the unexplained DOF jump in the first 24 mm comparison. Point taken about the 85mm focus ring (but...

Re: Shooting Time Lapse Sunsets with C300??

I'm not a Premiere guy, but I'm sure you can do it a number of ways with the tools in Premiere. Basically you are simply adjusting brightness of a clip over time using keyframes.
