Re: A little more about polarizers

Other than the stunning video quality, this is my favorite thing about using the GH1. When shooting a wedding, I snap some stills that I use for DVD packaging artwork -- it sure beats having to...

Re: Unusual setup for Speeches

Wow! I would have expected a lot more noise at ISO 3200. How do you reckon that was achieved?

Re: Age vs Experience

I shot my first wedding when I was 17 -- on an SVHS camera as a favor for a relative whose photography business was expanding to include video. I've been shooting in one form or another since then...

Re: A little more about polarizers

Polarizers are my all-time favorite filters. Every time I get a lens with a new thread size, the first thing I do is get a polarizer for it.

Re: Unusual setup for Speeches

It's definitely a different story when there are no lights to work with! :)

What a tough balance this is -- to preserve the atmosphere the clients wish to create, yet provide them with great video.

Re: Unusual setup for Speeches

I've only recently come to terms with this. I used to use powerful on-camera lighting, but have come to believe that I am disrupting the atmosphere created. As a documentary-style videographer, I...

Re: How many Monopod users?

I love the monopod. Takes some getting used to, though. Awesome at receptions!

Re: 2nd Camera placement

I'm considering trying out the Magic Arm, and clamping it onto something just above head-level -- a door frame, etc. That way, it's just above everyone when they stand up, and it eliminates the...

Re: How many of you actually create your DVD menus from scratch?

I create everything myself from scratch . . . I'm obsessed with originality :)

Re: 2nd Camera placement

This is why I go to the rehearsal -- I get it all figured out there, and even shoot some test footage. Then on the day of the wedding I know exactly where everything will be set up.

It's usually...

Re: gh2 came in

The 20mm is a must-have. The problem is that they're all backordered right now, with no end in sight. I managed to find one on Ebay for $450 with free shipping . . . I figured the extra $50 was worth...

Re: Music speed for music video.

Primus did this effect for their "Shake Hands with Beef" music video. They recorded the video with the music slowed way down, then sped it up to normal speed in post. Great effect.

Re: Daniela & Joe. A fusion wedding film, thoughts and critique please.

Very nice videography. Exposure looks great!

I agree with Dave on the stills being a little jarring -- mostly because of the color/style difference, as he said. Not a huge deal though, IMO.

As...

Re: GH1 firmware settings wedding ceremony

I've just shot 2 weddings with the GH1 as a stationary camera, and it's performed wonderfully using the unhacked firmware. Formerly, I put the bitrate way up, but got some intermittent card write...

Re: Analyze my footage...why the varying light?

This happens on my GH1 also. Very annoying.

I'm looking to buy the Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 Aspheric G-Series Lens for a GH1/GH2.

Thanks!

Re: Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95 lens price !

I saw some online for $499, but it just pains me when I used to see them for $379 . . . but you may have talked me into it :)

Re: Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95 lens price !

Wow, things really are bad. I was just looking today to buy a 20mm pancake for the GH1, and can't find a reasonable one anywhere. I thought maybe it was just your usual Panasonic supply problem, but...

Re: Card Write Speed Error with GH13

I shot the wedding on Saturday using the unhacked GH1 as my stationary back camera. No moire this time. Also, no card write errors. I also used the camera for pre-wedding shots and...

Re: GH2 Very shoppy

That could be the problem -- the DSLR sequences are all for progressive frames, and expect h.264 encoding in a MOV container.

Try to put the GH2's MTS files into the appropriate AVCHD sequence in...

Re: GH2 Very shoppy

I am 99.9% sure it's Premiere. Choppy and pixelated described my AVCHD playback in Premiere before I built my new machine with an i7 quadcore processor and GTX 470 video card, plus lots more RAM. Now...

Re: Card Write Speed Error with GH13

Well, for today's wedding, I'm going to use the other GH1 -- the newer, unhackable one -- just to play it safe.

Jeff: I was suspecting it had something to do with the hack, as I wasn't able to...

Re: bluray topic

This is another reason I want to be involved in making Blu-rays -- when (and not if, but when) they become the dominant means of physical media distribution, I don't want to be scrambling to adapt....
