Re: New and need help for son with Autism

Michael,

You have been candid, honest, and most of all...a class act. Please keep it up. Remember, "how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time".

Re: New and need help for son with Autism

Michael,

Here is another suggestion about how this board works. You mentioned shotgun mics. You have common misconceptions about how they work. But I will get to that, first the board.

Re: New and need help for son with Autism

Hey Gentleman,

Here is my take on the camera choice thing. First, in an ordinary situation my view is exactly like Mike Watson's. I tell the average beginner the same thing. Learn to shoot...

Re: Sigma 17-35

Randy,

Why would we laugh. If you don't need or want 4K this is a great time to buy HD for a bargain. You do weddings. That is one of the few genres that still delivers a large portion of your...

Re: New and need help for son with Autism

Michael,

No apology necessary for anything. You caused no distress. My posts are sometimes blunt, but I never mean to be rude. I was simply trying to figure out how to help out the best I can. ...

Re: New and need help for son with Autism

Yes my original reply (second one in the thread) was based on the assumption that you were referring to going into general video production of one kind or another. As things unfolded it is now...

Re: Best shooting technique for hand held video

I confess, I was one of those guys. I had a Kokin plastic filter kit just to degrade my Nikon glass. Of course they were reserved for shoots when girls were taking clothes off so they were...

Re: How to Get Talent to Say What I Want

Mike Watson is dead on the money....

Never give them "lines". Key word notes for you are OK but scripts with lines will never work in an amateur interview.

If necessary I will be point blank...

Re: New and need help for son with Autism

Hi Michael,

I applaud your intentions. In no way do I want to detract from them but I do have concerns. First, the biggest problem is that you will be his mentor/educator and you do not have the...

Re: Shooting at a speedway, bad for a camera?

Hi Noa,

I spent seven years the track photographer for Phoenix International Raceway. During that time they ran just about everything on wheels there including NASCAR and Indy Racing. As...

Re: Are used F900 or F900R cameras any good?

Hey Patrick,

Yes I meant the F900R, typo.

I don't know what to tell you about quirks? The "R" had some pretty nice upgrades from the original. Check them out ans see what is important to you....

Re: Are used F900 or F900R cameras any good?

+1 Mike, great post!

All of those old high end Sony cameras are great cameras. I have worked with everything from the analog SD days to Digi Beta and beyond. The F700R was king in its day.

Re: A new forum section for (live event) video streaming?

Douglas,

How do you connect a camera to the HDMI port on a laptop? Everyone I have ever seen is an output only. Do you have a HDMI port that can also work as an input?

Kind Regards,

Steve

Re: Sony 28 to 70

Here is the lens Chris was referring to:

Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens SELP18105G B&H Photo Video

It is only $600.00 instead of the $2,200.00 for the one your looking at. It is a perfect...

Re: NEX AE 50UH and lenses

Yes, still using both of them and loving it. Will continue to use them until I MUST go to 4K. Then it will still be an e-mount or EF lens camera because I have so much invested in glass!

Re: Wedding with a JVC gy ls300 and a Panasonic gx80

In the first third of this there is many examples of a killer exposure situation. The subject is in white or black and white. There is intense daylight back light. That is about as hard as it...

Re: Rock N Roll for Fun

Hey Josh,

Yes two cameras. One fixed on a tripod at stage right and one handheld. I do that a lot. The fixed camera is always wide because I like to shoot tight handheld.

Here is another...

Thats a pretty good video. For shooting yourself like that you need a monitor. It does not have to be a fancy video monitor, just hook up a TV so you have a big image of your shot. Place it...

Re: Live Event Broadcasting

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the info. I must have misread the basic package. I do not consider $499.00 a year expensive either. I consider $399.00 a month for premium very expensive (unless paid...
