Re: 360 VR for Most of Us
The Orah 4i is mainly for live streaming and has lower quality than the Kodak 360 4K and presumably the Nikon (which will not be available until October at the earliest):
From the Orah specs:

Re: 360 VR for Most of Us
Aha, 360 video is a threat to videographers with talent! :) But they are not mutually exclusive - one is just a more extensive record, the other is a work of art and a record.
More seriously, the...

Re: 360 VR for Most of Us
I posted both the Vimeo link and the YouTube link to illustrate the issue of the trade-off between resolution and immersion. The 4K video uploaded is exactly the same for both. It has quite nice...

360 VR for Most of Us
The GoPro kit is $5,000. The workflow is incredibly complex, requiring synchronization and stitching of 6 separate videos (6 sd cards) and a very powerful computer. It is heavy and cumbersome.
The...

Re: Is it true that Vegas is DEAD?
You obviously have not used Sony Vegas Pro with a 4K monitor. And this for an editor that has prided itself as designed for 4K. It does not scale properly, and so you get exactly what you hate in...

Re: QuickTime is not required by Sony Vegas Pro 13
Obviously it is a "requirement" if you are shooting and producing Quicktime files. It is not required for anything else. Quicktime would be required for any editor if you are editing Quicktime files...

Re: Vimeo "Adaptive Streaming" ??
As a long-time Vimeo subscriber (Plus and then Pro), I would like to make two comments:
1. That Google search puts Vimeo at a disadvantage is precisely the anti-competitive behavior that Google...

Re: best point and shoot in low light for video
I second the RX100 IV. Here is a low-light 4K test video I made (the scenes get progressively darker):

Re: Sony RX100 IV on the Beholder MS-1 Gimbal
Just to be clear on the heat issue. I have shot 4K exclusively, in many sessions without ever turning the camera off until the battery ran out where I amassed about 20GB's of video, shooting short...

Re: Sony RX100 IV on the Beholder MS-1 Gimbal
There is a bigger model, same form factor - the Beholder DS-1, with a much bigger payload limit, but yet still compact.
The RX100 IV is perfect, but it is the one with the 4K 5-minute limit! No...

Re: Holiday company promo edited in Vegas
Even the title opening clip, which looks down on the sail boats, is dominated by blown highlights - the sails and the hulls. They are 1/3 of the frame, and also the subject. White is one of the...

Re: Holiday company promo edited in Vegas
The coloring is interesting, but there are blown highlights all over - faces, sails, hulls, etc. Do you check scopes? histograms? YouTube compresses like crazy, but they do not "brighten" or cause...

Re: RX100IV heat observations
Here's another experience:
I shot video over a 1.5-hour session, never turning the camera off except for one 10-second battery change. In that period I shot 14.4 GB's of 4K video at 100 Mbps. The...
