Re: Is this the best Sony FX1000 can do?
The FX does shoot true 24p (23.97 actually) but it can't record it directly to tape since 24p isn't a part of the DV or HDV standard.
The trick is to properly remove the pulldown and assemble the...

Re: High FPS flicker removal ideas
Here is what the BCC plugin fix looks like. I started with the "FAST FLICKER" preset and changed the method to "TEMPORAL YCC" since only highlights in the frame were flickering.
The source was...

Yea, I can remove the pulldown when I bring the media into Media Composer.
Have you tried a capture using Windows Moviemaker? That will capture DV straight to disk.

Re: Is this the best Sony FX1000 can do?
For me to show you what it would look like with the pulldown removed I'll need an original clip from the camera. Once you run it through your editing software and render it out as a MPEG file that...

Re: Is this the best Sony FX1000 can do?
Not all the artifacts are "real" in that they are caused by how the video is packaged.
The interlacing artifacts are due to the pulldown. You can get rid of them by extracting the 24p video from...

Re: Is this the best Sony FX1000 can do?
The FX1000 records a 24p frame rate in a 30i stream. A true 24p stream must be extracted from the DV or HDV 30i recording. The pulldown inserted by the camera to record the 24p in the 30i stream can...

In your application a good mic on the camera will give you better sound. Since you don't need the normal standards of a broadcast interview you should be fine as long as you can keep the...

Re: Ipad 2 as wireless monitor
I have an eye-fi card and you can stream video you have already recorded. There is no live viewing of anything.
You can only stream low rez video. The connection is pretty slow.

Re: Firmware update. Any difference?
I doubt there will be any real difference.
If you are interested in the new output formats (RAW and S-LOG2) those features will require a hardware upgrade.

Big chip cameras also have an additional disadvantage for greenscreen - DOF. Shallow DOF can look good when you are on a normal set but it can be a disaster on a green screen. Stop the lens down to...
