Re: C100 and handholding

Andrew,

The lens has to be switched to auto focus in order for the camera to be able to adjust it. If you push auto with the lens in manual nothing will happen. But set your camera setting 'AF...

Re: Canon 1DC Price Drops $4,000 on 2/1/15

Thanks for the 1DC tip Kyle. I may seriously look at that. I love my C100, but this week I was shooting video to Pro Res with the C100, and RAW stills on the 5D2. Shooting Stills and Video on the...

Re: C100 and handholding

I use push focus and peaking all the time... so yes the lens has to be set to auto. I trust peaking more than my eyes. And I like shallow dof, so I often use ND to open the iris a little more. I...

Re: Dedolight & Litepanels "Daylight"

Thanks Chris,

yeah, it is weird getting used to the light, plasticky feel of these... but I was shooting a couple of interviews in a real tight office last week, and with 2 diffused ikan LED...

Re: Dedolight & Litepanels "Daylight"

Chris,

I just picked up a SOLA 4, but I am experiencing intermittent failure of the servo zoom, then I have to use the phillips head override... If you have a 4, have you had any issues... I think...

Re: Awesome video showing C100mkII tracking AF, Face Detection, Slow Mo

Personally, the c100 has been a great camera, and has paid for itself several times over without slomo or 4k... Just as my 5d2 paid for itself many times over without either. And one day when 4k is...

Re: C100 and handholding

Scott,

This is a more affordable version by DJI that you might want to look at if you like the MOVI but not the price. I've been considering it, but really need to try it out first.

DJI Ronin...

Re: Awesome video showing C100mkII tracking AF, Face Detection, Slow Mo

Regarding 4k...

yes, the ability to recompose through zooming is handy when you are too rushed, or had other restrictions to keep you from composing properly in the first place. But I don't think...

Re: Modifying Internal ND filters on C100

I suppose that would be an advantage to the drop system... you could stack them... but I would just drop the ISO down to 400 or 200. I would for sure do that before hacking into my built in ND's......

Re: Modifying Internal ND filters on C100

How about mounting a 4x4 filter holder on the front, to hold drop in filters. Much faster than screw on filters. I had one years ago for stills. Something like this

LEE Filters Foundation Kit FK...

Re: Grading

Try Red Giant - Magic Bullet - Looks.

I have the full Color suite and love it. It can be added as a plugin to FCPX, Vegas, and PPro.

In FCPX once purchased and installed, it will show up in...

Re: C100 and handholding

Kathy,

I use the push auto focus button to confirm focus - you will have to center your subject, then drift off center for preferred composition, but it works. But I spent a full 5 years...

Re: C100 and handholding

Hey Gary, I mean - I think the base unit will just get you started, and they want you to buy every accessory they have for it to really make it reasonably functional. And with zacuto prices, that's...

Re: C100 and handholding

Same. But I put the neck strap on, and around my neck and pull it tight. I used to do this with my 5d2 all the time. With a wide or an IS lens - it holds up pretty good.

The zacuto rig looks like...

Re: Canon C100 Mark II -- Worth the upgrade?

As a current C100 owner, I won't rush to upgrade... but I would appreciate a firmware upgrade to 60p, and a .mov file option, vs. being stuck with AVCHD internally.

Re: Taking the plunge with $10,000

By far the most used piece of kit that I have and use other than a tripod is a slider. I have a jib, that is relatively easy to set up (for a crane that telescopes out to 15' that is) but it's size,...

Re: Taking the plunge with $10,000

Hi Scott,

Another vote for the EF-S 17-55 f2.8. It's my most of the time lens for the C100. Not sure why you would want to hand hold all the time but the IS on this lens is nice. I do find it ok...

Re: Corporate editing charges, by the hour or by the project?

When I bid on a project, it's usually a flat rate. I find that most clients want/need some cost certainty. I generally build in a buffer to allow for the painful clients... but one thing that I...

Re: Canon C100 with 24-70 Lens

I have a friend who has the 24-70 f2.8 that he uses on his Red Epic, and he has had issues with soft images at some focal lengths above 50mm (which seems weird). I use the 17-55 now as my main lens...

re: C100 Mark II -- Mostly About Waveform

I've only been shooting with the c100 for a couple of months, but shot video extensively for 5 years on the 5d2, and the XLH1 before that. The last thing I would trust for exposure is the auto iris...
