Re: Premiere Multi-Cam - do you bother?

I've tried the multicam feature a couple of times, but what I can't understand is how the audio works. I don't record live audio directly to cam, I always drop in a synced track from a recorder. But...

Re: Those of you with a "highlight only" or "short film only" business model...

So when you say you offered them to "upgrade", how exactly did your package change? Were you previously only offering a long form, and they "upgraded" to a short film format with a cleaned up raw...

Re: Those of you with a "highlight only" or "short film only" business model...

In my area, the place producing the most notable films in my opinion is Fairytale Studio Wedding Films, New York Manhattan (http://fairytalestudio.com/). I love their approach to filming and post.

Re: Setting up stage shots

Coordinating with the photographer is key, especially if you decide to take them away from the reception at night and do some shots outside or away from their party. You want to take up as little of...

Those of you with a "highlight only" or "short film only" business model...

I realize that there may not be a lot of people in the industry offering this type of thing. One of my favorite wedding studios in my area has this model, and charges a verrrry pretty penny for it...

Re: Securing your audio

Chris- could you point us to the dongle you used, and where you bought it? Also, is the one you have rechargable or can it have rechargable batteries put in it?

Re: Blackmagic pocket any one ?

I would have seriously thought about getting one at that price to play with, but I decided the storage factor (100-200mbps clips as opposed to 25-35mbps with what I'm shooting currently) and workflow...

Re: Securing your audio

I always set my recorders on manual and adjust the input gain accordingly depending on what it is my source is (live feed, speaker, lav mic). I know manual sound is preferred to auto levels, but do...

Re: How is this slow mo done?

Which shot did you notice it on? I was trying to look for some trailing artifacts but couldn't find any. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right place.

How is this slow mo done?

One of my favorite wedding studios has a video with some very slow-motion segments done, and I really want to find out how this is done. The video is at: Opposites Attract from David Ruzicka on Vimeo...

Re: Need ideas- how to create a little smoke?

Good idea- my buddy and I that I shoot with considered that, but I'm thinking that smoke from dry ice usually travels downward, doesn't it? I'd like to try something set behind a couple's torso, that...

Need ideas- how to create a little smoke?

I've been thinking about trying a creative shot with some future couples. I want to do a shot that is backlit (i have a light that would work fine), but I want to add a liiiitle bit of smoke or mist...

Re: How many weddings do you do a year?

I'm in my second year (1 year as of April) and I've got 7 weddings contracted for 2014. This is with ZERO advertising dollars. I don't even have a website yet. All my business comes from clients of a...

Re: Has anyone pre-ordered a Sony AX100 4k or CX900?

Yeah I'm trying to figure out whether the CX900 will outperforms the HFG30. Also can't really trust these YouTube clips because of the extra compression, so I'm not sure what to make of them.

Re: Has anyone pre-ordered a Sony AX100 4k or CX900?

Does anyone have any definitive answer as to how these models do in low light with this big of a sensor, despite the small aperture? I'm cross-shopping these against the Canon HFG30.

Combining footage between Canon XF and a Sony?

Hi all- I currently shoot with a XF100 which is borrowed and will some day be replaced. I'm looking for a new B-cam, and currently looking at buying either the Canon HF-G30 which of course should...

Re: Sony FDR-AX100

Does anyone have any examples of a 1080 clip that was shot in camera from the AX100, not one that was downrezzed from 4k?

Re: Sony FDR-AX100

Cliff- was this screen cap from the AX100 shot in-camera as a 1080p clip, or was it a 4k clip downresed to 1080p?

Re: Worst mistake you made while shooting?

At one gig, my A-cam was pointed at the B&G's asses for the first 8 minutes of the (fortunately long) ceremony. I managed to edit my way through it, somehow.

Newbie mistake.

Re: Need help deciding- Canon HFG30 or Sony CX900?

Low light is probably the main reason is buy it because I was assuming the 1" sensor would outperform the 1/3" sensor in both the XF100 and the G30, despite the difference in minimum aperture sizes....

Re: Need help deciding- Canon HFG30 or Sony CX900?

I've had the exact same thoughts myself. If I decide I could spend the extra cash for the AX100, I might even use it a lot as a camera to down-res from 4k to 1080 because I saw the comparison screen...

Re: Need help deciding- Canon HFG30 or Sony CX900?

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting about the RX10 though, except that I really need a de-factor camcorder for the ability to be unmanned. The XF100 is actually borrowed and I will be replacing it...
