Re: Yi 360 “Tiny Planet” demo

OK Here is a better version with smoothed-out pixelated parts in zoomed-out sections:

Re: Yi 360 “Tiny Planet” demo

Lol - Maybe I’m just too attached to my equipment 😂. Where I live if I left it like that it’ll be swiped in seconds!! 😐😐.

Re: Yi 360 “Tiny Planet” demo

Thanks Mark.

Yes I agree with the pixelation bit. Funny thing was I tried the same thing using another editor, Powerdirector 16. With that, it smooths out the pixelation. Maybe it is GPU...

Yi 360 “Tiny Planet” demo

Hi all.

Here is an example of mine using the Yi’s 5.7K recording resolution. The clips took a while to stitch but it was worth it. The final video was edited and rendered in Magix Vegas Pro 16,...

Re: “Spare Room Concert Series 3”

Thanks Robert! Much appreciated :D

When I did this, I ended up spending most of the time in planning the “set design” and lighting (which took about an hour vs 30 mins actually recording). It’s...

“Spare Room Concert Series 3”

Hello all,

This clip is an idea I had that was inspired by NPC’s “Tiny Desk Concert Series” on YouTube. On one hand it could be seen as an experiment with multi-cam setups and minimal lighting, on...

Re: 2-Pass Mainconcept MPEG2 rendering question

Hi Seth,

Unfortunately I’m still using MPEG2 because my clients still insist on having DVDs 😕.

There was a time when I was torn between having smooth motion but less detail (interlaced...

Re: 2-Pass Mainconcept MPEG2 rendering question

Thanks guys.

I’ve tried it with some long form clips today. Normally without 2-pass, a single 1hr clip (HD source with only a single NewblueFX colour plugin) would take about 30 mins to render....

2-Pass Mainconcept MPEG2 rendering question

Hi all - just a quick question (maybe needs a technical answer, who knows...).

When 2-pass is selected when rendering as an MPEG2 file, what does vegas do in the 2nd pass?
Is it as simple as...

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

Hi Mark, thanks for the critique.

Youre right about the flat profile. I originally wanted to see how it held up in Yi colour but changed my mind after the shot hence I changed it to B&W. Still, it...

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

This is an experimental self-portrait clip. This was originally shot in 4k50p, Yi Colour mode, but I used a black & white preset on NewblueFX Film colour plugin in Vegas 15.

I then slowed the...

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

Hi Mark - Do you use the Lens Correction function on this camera?

I've just come back from a concert I recorded using the Yi 4k+ as one of the locked-off cams. I was using the Lens Correction...

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

Sharpness can be tweaked in-camera, but I'm a fan of doing it in software :) Whenever I shoot with the Yi 4k+ I tend to use as flat an image profile as I can before editing the footage (in terms of...

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

Hi Bruce - sorry to hear that. Updating the firmware should resolve that issue. Ever since I've bought mine, I've always made a habit of checking if a new firmware has come out for the camera to sort...

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

Well, it is a limitation for your expectations. But, for me, because the end product would be a DVD, It's ok (Apart from that "over-zoomed clip", I've rectified it since. Also note, that hardly any...

Hi Bruce - check out the original raw footage. It was already shot at its widest setting (in camera).

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

If 2.7k mode zoomed in is still not good for you, there's always 4k mode. I havent got any indoor examples to show - maybe someone else can chime in...?

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

Hi Mark - To be honest I just chose Native because it seemed close to the colour look I was after. I suppose I could’ve chose Auto as the colours of the lights didn’t change throughout the concert. ...

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

You're welcome.

One other thing to mention is that the lights were a mixture of sodium (white) and tungsten lights (the spotlights on the pulpit/stage). Also they were on constantly throughout...

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

Hi all - sorry to interrupt the thread, but this is a response to how the Yi 4k+ can perform in concert (indoor) settings (with low-ish lighting).

Here is a sample of a video of a concert I...

Re: Report on the Yi 4K+

Wow! - where did you get this hack from? It sounds interesting 😊.

Even without this hack, this is a little beast of a camera, which I mainly use for wideangle shots (recording 2.7k50p or 4k50p)...
