Re: Recording Speeches

I find my zoom h1 is too thick to attach to a mike handle, my yamaha c24 is better suited for this as it's smaller in size. My zoom h4 however always gets connected to the dj's audio table when...

Re: New Sony HXR-NX30E Palmcorder with advanced Stabilization

Do you use that on your cx760? How do you determine then what ND value to apply if you don't have any read out on the lcd screen in record mode about shutter, iris or iso?

Controlling the...

Re: One More Reason Not To Give Raw Footage

In my case I allways make a short and a long version of a wedding, the long version pretty much contains all I filmed that day minus the garbage but with all the extra audio added and multiple camera...

Re: One More Reason Not To Give Raw Footage

I shoot with 5 different camera's throughout a wedding day and use 4 different audio recorders, most of the images from the videocamera's have crap sound but that's what the audio recorders are for...

Re: Can they sue you?

I have a few demo's on my site of which I have a verbal agreement with the couple to use it there, I have had 2 couples so far that requested after a year or so to remove them and then I just do...

Re: Cinematone

I was hoping you"d show an image of a cx730/740/760 with that info in record mode :) but it's good to know that at least it is included on the nx70.
I only wished the small Sony's did this as well,...

Re: Cinematone

Never mind, just saw that my cx730 keeps a constant F4.0 outside and rides the shutter to keep it at that level, it's sunny outside today and I saw shutter speeds close to 1/500. I did realize...

Re: Cinematone

Do you use an ND filter to be able to do that? Without that the only option left is use the shutterspeed, I have the same issue on my cx730, in general you don't notice these often very high...

Re: Cinematone

:) I just referred to the xf100 because here it's about the same price but the camera seems to have more control over the image. With the Sony it's" what you see you get", I do have a cx730 which...

Re: When would you interrupt a ceremony?

Sorry that I misunderstood you :) Belgian churches are often not that bad, you can't interrupt a priest while preaching but you can walk around freely when they are playing a song, so if something...

Re: Cinematone

Re: Sony HDR-CX760V: A Warning

There is already technology that has advanced stabilisation, just look at the tour de France when they are zooming in with a camera attached to a helicopter, it's rock steady. But steadicam's I don't...

Re: When would you interrupt a ceremony?

I never do that and didn"t say I did.

"rent a priest" is becoming very popular here, they are often "priests" that are not allowed to do ceremonies in Church but they have formed an own...

Re: Sony HDR-CX760V: A Warning

Your probably right Paul, thing is that I don't use that active OIS anymore since I noticed it zooms in so I just stay in standard OIS which is very good as well. For that few times I did use active...

Re: Sony HDR-CX760V: A Warning

The OIS can be Off, standard or in active mode, in standard and active mode the lens moves to help with balancing the image but in active mode the camera automatically zooms a few percent in on the...

Re: When would you interrupt a ceremony?

It's fun to see how we all fear the man behind the altar :) Almost like a king that's conducting his speech with his fly unzipped, would you as a cameraman tell him or not if no-one else would notice...

Re: What about the CX760?

No, the 760 is not "that" better, if I compare to my cx730 to my xr520, side by side, it's sometimes hard to tell the difference and the 520 is already an older generation and has a smaller lens,...

Re: What about the CX760?

Got another one to show off the low light.

The first part it was my samyang 14mm f2.8 lens at 1600 iso with a neutral preset and as you will see the difference is quite big but I have been...

Re: Candid filming in dark venues - to light or not?

I never have the couple sign anything in regard to not using light and the consequences that might have, I only inform them at the wedding if I run into a situation that my camera's can't handle...

Re: Candid filming in dark venues - to light or not?

Well, I had, and it happened to be the last wedding I did. It was so dark just before the first dance I asked the venue manager twice if he could turn up the lights a bit for the first dance but got...

Re: Candid filming in dark venues - to light or not?

In good light, that's not necessarily true, the Z1 produces a really nice image with vibrant colors and in terms of sharpness it's still very good, even-though the latest small handicams produce a...

Re: What about the CX760?

Optical zoom is only 10x and since it starts so wide that doesn't give you that much to work with, it's ok for most stuff but in some occasions I miss the 20x zoom from my xh-a1.
Once you go beyond...

Re: What about the CX760?

I made a quick and dirty comparison at one of my last weddings to show the low light perfomance, I did this because one of the users on this forum working with much more expensive camera's didn't...

Re: What about the CX760?

In Europe you have the cx730/740, The cx730 however doesn't have that build in projector or build in memory like the cx740 but is 308 dollar cheaper, I bhought myself a 85 dollar sandisc 32 gb class...

Re: Candid filming in dark venues - to light or not?

ouch, a Z1 is very bad at low light, I've edited some footage from that camera at a wedding and understand your problem now. I still think that no matter what you try, everyone will see you coming...
