But if you want to expose a face right and think it is ok, the camera will tell you if it's not if you use zebra's. Like you said, it might look ok on the viewfinder but turn out to be overexposed...

That's why you always should use zebra"s as it identifies problem area's when you over expose. I have the zebra's turned on always on my small handicam since I got it and I operate exposure manually...

All you need for any kind of documenatry is a good story and editing skills, then cameraspecs don't matter, as long as you have image and sound your viewers won't mind if it's done on a pocketsize...

I'd say serious documentary makers that produce videos for Nat geo, but they probably got a gopro as well in their filmbag for those shots that are impossible to do with their bulky broadcast...

I think you made a good choice, f2.8 lenzes paired with a dslr could have been an issue in very dark places (unless you went for the 5dIII) but the fs100 can handle very high iso's and it will also...

In Belgium there is only one online store that thas the xh-a1s in stock at a reduced price which is a bit cheaper then a sony nx30 f.i. Although you get much more camera for that price I would choose...
