Re: Jan. 17th Canon announcement

As much as I am hoping for 15, I will not be surprised if it's 16.

Re: Anyone planning to buy the C300?

Gotta disagree with you there Glen. If I was doing a feature, I would probably be looking at Epic or Alexa. I understand the C300 may not be right for you, but I can tell you it is right for a lot of...

Re: Anyone planning to buy the C300?

Right. So I'm hoping there is some way to mount the monitor and XLRs off camera. If it could be mounted on rails to the left of the camera then it could work well. But it looks like the monitor...

Re: Anyone planning to buy the C300?

I shoot a lot of weddings and I am strongly considering this camera as my new workhorse. I've been waiting 2 years for a proper replacement to my DSLRs. It will be a great day when videographers no...

XDCAM software downlaod

I really need the XDCAM Transfer software for Mac or the XDCAM Transfer Plugin for FCP. The Sony support site is down and they expect it to be back up by September 6th! Typical. Does anyone know of...

Re: Newest F3 TV spot

Four square ball red in some shots. Color seems a tad inconsistent with some shots being over saturated.

But I do appreciate you posting. Looking forward to your future work. And of course I am...

Re: HDR from a moving vehicle

It's a bit confusing to me. So are you saying it's a software thing more so than a codec thing?

I rendered my photo sequences out of AE as ProRes LT. Is that the footage they would want or would...

Re: HDR from a moving vehicle

I did a quick search on this and didn't turn anything up. How do I submit and what is the purpose? I'm guessing it's for research as they develop new standards.

Re: HDR from a moving vehicle

Yea, the Vimeo compression is brutal on this piece. I originally uploaded an H.264 720 @ 10Mbps. I just replaced it with XDCAM EX 1080 @ 35Mbps and I think it helped a little. It's the compression on...

Re: HDR from a moving vehicle

3 bracketed images. Results in some ghosting but it looks so cool.

I am totally addicted to HDR right now and having a lot of fun!

HDR from a moving vehicle

Photomatix was able to remove some of the ghosting but there's still a lot. I knew there would be when I was shooting it but it looks cool anyway so I just kept it up.

Let me know what you think!...

Re: Martial Arts video shot on the 7D - my first time playing with 60p on a DSLR

The slow mo stuff was shot at 60p and conformed to 24p for true 40% slow motion. For the fast stuff, I sped the slow mo footage to 288% giving me 115% of realtime.

Up until now I've been telling...

Re: Martial Arts video shot on the 7D - my first time playing with 60p on a DSLR

Ryan, thanks for your feedback. It did get really long. I was originally aiming for 60 seconds but I really wanted to get the slow vs fast thing in there a few times. I wonder how I could have done...

Re: Martial Arts video shot on the 7D - my first time playing with 60p on a DSLR

Thanks Jimmy. I was surprised how much footage I got. I was on site for 2 hours and ended up with about 55 minutes of raw footage. I was originally aiming for a 60 second edit but turns out I had...

Re: sdhc card which one

Can't argue with that. But I was talking to one of the guys at San Jose Camera (pretty big local retailer) and he said the cards that come back for repair/return/recovery least often are SanDisk....

Re: sdhc card which one

I'll second that. I have 4 of the 32GB SanDisk UHS-I cards and I feel very comfortable. I wouldn't trust my livelihood with anything less.

Re: Martial Arts video shot on the 7D - my first time playing with 60p on a DSLR

Jon, you're right but I think you meant to say theses SLR zooms are NOT parfocal. Anyway, yes that is part of the deal but it doesn't stop me from zooming while recording. I just make focus...

Re: Martial Arts video shot on the 7D - my first time playing with 60p on a DSLR

A monitor is no good for critical focus without an HD signal.

Sounds like a follow focus is what you need. Dial the focus in perfectly with the zoom and then mark it with a dry erase marker.

If...

Re: Martial Arts video shot on the 7D - my first time playing with 60p on a DSLR

Definitely essential. Without it I'd be hosed if the sun was hitting the screen. Otherwise, I'd get by but I wouldn't be happy about it and I wouldn't be fully confident in my output.

Sharpness...

Re: Martial Arts video shot on the 7D - my first time playing with 60p on a DSLR

I am often surprised when people talk about how hard it is for them to focus their DSLR. I have always found it easy and I consider it the fun part of shooting on these cameras. But that said, I have...

Re: Martial Arts video shot on the 7D - my first time playing with 60p on a DSLR

Thanks for the feedback Jeff. The fast shutter was intentional but yes, it is too fast for the real time stuff. I was going for a 90º shutter on the slo mo so I had it at 1/250. So that's a 36º...

Martial Arts video shot on the 7D - my first time playing with 60p on a DSLR

I got a minuscule amount of money to shoot a video of a sparring session at a local dojo. Figured it was a perfect time to bust out with some 60p and the glidecam. I poured my heart into the edit...
