Re: FCP X: Looking Forward While Looking Back.

A superb contribution to the debate that will annoy many a dinosaur on this forum, but someone had to say it and you've done it brilliantly.

The more I play with this program, the more convinced I...

Re: To Mac or not to Mac: The Future for Mac-based editors

Can't tell any difference between FCP6 and 7 myself. Sure there are a couple of coloured markers/sequence icons, and better speed tools i rarely use, but 6 is solid a a rock IMO. The FCS3 "upgrade"...

Re: To Mac or not to Mac: The Future for Mac-based editors

David,

I agree that not being able to open previous projects is a PITA, but that could yet be addressed. I'd wait a couple of weeks and see what happens. Going to a new NLE and windows hardware is...

Re: To Mac or not to Mac: The Future for Mac-based editors

I'm still using V6 too. Couldn't see any benefits to going to 7 but have been eagerly awaiting X.

The new one is mind blowing, but of course has many shortcomings at present. I am going through...

"never go for version 1 of any program or hardware, always wait for the first set of updates."

The last word on the subject. There seem to be lots of guinea pigs (lemmings) trying out...

Re: FCP X Now available to buy and download from App Store

Oliver

You still have FCP7 i take it?

Why not just use that till X is ready for your work?

I agree it's a little odd for Apple to put out an APP that is not ready yet, but nobody is forcing...

Re: FCP X Now available to buy and download from App Store

Sergio

Already checked the graphics card requirements and the 13 has one that is recommended, so i don't see that as a problem.
Obviously the 15 would be better, but it costs a lot more, and i...

I'm looking to get a 13 " macbookpro dual core i5 machine (the entry level new one just released) in a couple of weeks. Do you think this machine will be up to running FCPX with a monitor?

Re: FCP X Now available to buy and download from App Store

Nobody is saying you have to upgrade now. I'm still quite happy with version 6, and will move over when i think the time is right.
New software always takes time to get up to speed, and as well as...

Re: FCP X Now available to buy and download from App Store

Interesting stuff going on here. I shall be hanging on to FCP6 for the time being, but look forwards to getting this for my new macbookpro in a couple of weeks.

I'm guessing that this version will...

Re: new camera: Panasonic AG-HPX250

"1/2 chips would swing so many people."

And put a large dent in Panasonic's more expensive line at the same time? Sony are faced with a similar problem with their EX upgrade.

Canon and JVC are...

Re: Green screen - can I paint one?

You can get away with cheap and cheerful paint from a hardware store if you know the correct shade. Good lighting is the key to success (scuse the pun) and shooting with a camera with decent colour...

Re: new camera: Panasonic AG-HPX250

Thanks for the info Gary.

Looking forwards to Dan Brockett getting hold of this cam to review later in the year. It seems destined to Join Canon's XF300 with the Beeb's seal of approval, and more...

Ok, i'm warming to the idea of this being my next camera having been set on the Canon XF range.

Re: Nothing really new at NAB?

Final Cut X was the big one for me, even if it is months away and still in its infancy. I'm guessing Canon will come up with a camera to compete with the Panasonic AF100 and Sony F3 at some point...

Re: new camera: Panasonic AG-HPX250

Panasonic have consistently produced the nicest "straight out of camera" images IMO. I've never owned one due to the cost of P2, but this thing looks fantastic. Anyone done a price comparison between...

re: HyperDeck Shuttle from Blackmagic Design

I find this a strange product at this price point. It seems insanely cheap for the kinds of people who need uncompressed video, and largely useless for everyone else. AFAIK, high end broadcasting is...
