Re: 3D Weddings?

I'll never shoot a wedding in 3D, like Corey I can barely sit through a 3d movie in theatres. I watched Conan in 3d the other day and my eyes were so tired afterwards. IMO 3D is a total fad, probably...

Re: What are your best marketing tools?

my best marketing tools are my past clients. 80% of my brides are referrals. the rest I get from stumblers on my website I suppose. My blog gets more hits than my twitter has followers, and my...

Re: Starting in the Wedding Business...

IMO thinking about "wow factor" gear like sliders is an absolute no-no for your first couple weddings. When I have a new shooter with me I dont let them use sliders or steadicams throughout the day...

Re: DSLRs: am I just being paranoid?

haha chris that's great, gopro's are the way to go for sure!

But seriously, I use a gopro and a contour for the ceremonies as "hidden cams" for angles I may miss due to movement restrictions or...

Re: Pre-Ceremony Coverage

Much like Chris I don't shoot the couple being photographed by the photographer (maybe here and there as a just in case BTS shot to throw in if I feel like it) but unlike chris I find that I'm able...

Re: What should I look for in a 2nd Shooter?

Definitely look for someone who is passionate about weddings in particular. I think that alot of the basics for second shooting can be more or less learned while the love of shooting and being at a...

Re: Too many videographers?

Phillip, I shoot with several unmanned cameras so I think that is why I dont see much added benefit to having an extra operator, the shots are all gotten by 2 operators and all my stationary cameras....

Re: cross-border weddings. hassles?

Interesting thoughts, basically there doesnt seem to be a decent way to practically take cross-border wedding gigs.

Just to be clear, I never lied to the border guards. I figured it would be in my...

Re: Shot on PENTAX (Believe it or not) - Caleb & Abbie

Re: Too many videographers?

talking about speeches alone I have 1 camera on speaker, 1 camera on B&G, if the speech refers to a guest then B&G angle gets the guest. I can set up an unmanned camera on B&G if I want as well, so...

I read all the comments before watching this so I expected something worse. But I actually enjoyed watching it. I loved the raw handheld style and the video held my interest until the end.

I do...

Re: Too many videographers?

The only time I have ever wanted more than 2 videographers is at the ceremony. Bride and groom prep are perfect with 1 at each place. Having 2 videogs at the photo session makes it a breeze, although...

Re: Is your slider on the tripod all the time?
